Présentation de l'éditeur

Fall in love with the boy next door in this sweet romance by USA Today Bestselling Author, Jillian Dodd.

You know, being friends with two cute boys does have its benefits.

There's Danny. Danny is a golden boy in every way. He has dreamy blue eyes and blonde hair that always looks perfect, even when it’s windblown or been stuck under a football helmet. He’s the boy every girl crushes on. The boy I get into trouble with, the boy I fight with, the hot quarterback no girl can resist. Being with Danny is like being on an adventure. He has a bright, contagious smile and abs to die for.

Equally crush-worthy is Phillip. Adorable, sweet Phillip, who I have known since birth.  Phillip has dark hair, a perfect smile, brown eyes, and the sexiest voice I have ever heard. He’s the boy I talk to every night before I go to sleep. The boy who rescues me, the boy who can read my mind, the boy who is always there for me, the boy who tries to keep me out of trouble, the boy who irritatingly keeps getting hotter, and whose strong arms always seem to find their way around me.  And when he gives me that grin, I can never say no.

One boy will give me my very first kiss.
One boy will teach me to make out.
One boy will take me to prom.
And, finally, one boy will ask me to marry him.
They will both be my best friends.
But only one of them will be the boy I fall in love with.
Only one of them is That Boy.

*This is a story about friendships that span from grade school through college, and there is no love triangle.

Des personnages bien construits et approfondis. L'évolution d'une amitié en grand amour. On rit, on pleure, une vrai lecture plaisir. Les petits défauts qui m'avait un peu gêné prennent leur sens dans le second tome que je conseille également.

This was the first book I've ever read by Jillian and I have to say, I can't wait for me.

I love the way this book starts out. It moves very quickly and flows so well. I love reading about Jadyn's life from such a young age and seeing things progress. As an adult reading through someone's life when they are a lot younger than you, you would think that it would be boring or hard to read. However, the way that Jillian writes is extremely witty and can't wait to see the antics that Jadyn , Phillip, and Danny get into next.

Jillian has such a clever way with words. I literally laughed and cried throughout this book. There are some things that are very unexpected and heartbreaking that happen.

You just feel so connected to all the characters in Jadyn's life, including her parents, friends, and friends parents. I couldn't help but get wrapped up in her life.

The triangle between Jadyn, Danny, and Phillip is great. They're all such great friends and have such a good connection with each other. Even though at first Jadyn hated Danny when he moved into the neighbor.

I really just love this book. I can't wait for more. (I hope there's more!) I would recommend this book to everyone who I know. You can't help but to fall in love with this book.

Buy it! You'll love it!

I am genuinely puzzled on how there is SO many 5 star reviews. Like, I am seriously stumped right now. I am pretty young and have read thousands, I mean THOUSANDS of books, and have never, not once, actually hated a book. But "That boy" is THAT BAD.

I loved the blurb concept of this novel and was really intruiged by the piece. And I did slightly enjoy the first 3 or so chapters but promptly decided against that original judgement. The characters had absolutely no depth whatsoever. Everything is unrealistic and I couldn't help but perceive the main character as really shallow.

One huge problem I have with the book is which guy she chooses. SPOILER ALERT SKIP PARAGRAPH IF YOU DON'T WANNA KNOW. Throughout the book, Jadyn is care free, sly, munipulitive, and very strong willed. She always takes on the challenges in life, so I really thought her and Danny should have been together. Their chemistry is one of the only things I enjoyed about this book. They challenge each other. So I was utterly disappointed when he marries another girl.

Another big problem is how unrealistic the parents were. Jadyns parents are kinda strict. So when in one part of the novel, they are in a hot tub with Phillip and Danny's parents smoking a joint and drinking beer in front of her, THEN let her take some shots and beer to Phillips house, AND make her drive danny to the hospital since he ended up breaking his arm and they didnt want to i was dumbfounded. Not to metion when phillips mom is telling her to have sex with him and get married later one before he marries someone else. UGH!

The last thing I want to bring up is that the time continued to change with like every other paragraph. The main character goes from the age of 10 to 22 in 200 pages. The book would go from a chapter when they are in there freshmen year of college, jadyn kissed a guy and the next chapter comes and she is in her junior year of college, that guy broke up with her and got engaged and she was dating 3 more guys by the next week. I found myself repeating the words "did i miss something?" A lot. The character had no depth and situations only lasted 2 seconds before it skipped a few years and things happen. My explanation for this; the author is just lazy. She gives no details on anything and I find myself thoroughly disappointed. I also feel like the three best friends , phillip, danny, and jadyn, just didnt have that connection that i thought they would.

I know now to stay away from this author. She could have possibly made this my favorite book, but I find myself devastatingly disappointed.

I've never read such a lack-of-plot, lack-of-character-devolopment, clichéd, stereotypical book in my ENTIRE life. Let's start from the beginning:
Jadyn Reynolds tells her story through diary entries, from Pre-K all the way to out of college. (Okay, I like these kinds of books, so I'm not biased.) She's been best friends with Phillip Mackenzie and Danny Diamond (nice choice of last names, eh? [sarcasm]) from little on. First off, this book and terrible format, and horrific language. There's lack of description, lack of characters and lack of everything. This is the first book that I have stopped halfway through.
To say the least, I won't be reading the sequel.

What the hell?!!!!

That's JJ's mantra after all, "what the hell." I'm so happy I picked up this book. It made me a very very happy girl. This book was a surprise hit for me. It was a unique story about a girl and her two best friends, Phillip & Daniel, and which of these boys is "That Boy", the boy she eventually ends up with. The way this book was written, it was like reading JJ's diary, with illustrations and all (a very cute touch that just added to it's charm). The book started off where the book eventually ends, her at her engagement party declining a marriage proposal, we just dont know to whom she is declining. We then flashback to how everything began. It takes us to the very beginning, from birth to college, all in JJ's POV and all with Phillip and Daniel always at her side. Oh, and as a side note, may I add that I wished I had two gorgeous guy BFFs? I wish I was "That Girl" growing up. lol. Anyway, I digress, whoops my bad :) Anyway, what really surprised me was that it wasnt yor typical love triangle story and i was perfectly okay with it. I loved their friendship too much and I found myself worrying along with JJ that taking the next step with one of them would ruin one or both friendships. Throughout the book, she comes awfully close to that line you cross between friends and something more. I really loved this story and I'm happy to read that the author is working on a sequel. So which boy is That Boy? Just read it and find out. Definitely recommend :)

I personally didn't connect with female lead. I thought she acted immature all the time. I didn't feel the turn in her relationship with Phillip, from plutonic to more. Her response to the heartbreaking event in the middle of the book was unbelievable and seriously lacking. 8 days after the event, she's thinking about boys and prom? As much as she had a strong family bond it just seemed too unreal to me.
