Présentation de l'éditeur

On the HIStory album, Michael Jackson sang a song called Childhood, and a line in that song--"I'm searching for that wonder in my youth"-- is a starting point for my exploration of what children and childhood meant to him. What is wonder and why is it important? What does he mean when he asks, "Have you seen my childhood"? How can his appreciation of J.M. Barrie's Peter Pan and the creation of Neverland Valley Ranch contribute to our understanding of his thoughts on children and childhood? In this powerful, autobiographical song, Jackson presents us with a challenge: "Before you judge me, try hard to love me." Drawing from his speeches, writings, interviews, drawings, and humanitarian efforts, I 'try hard' to understand the song Childhood, and Jackson's determined belief that a new approach to childhood and children will heal the world.

Veronica Bassil...I loved your book. I feel it is a long overdue examination of the true sentiments and motivations of Michael Jackson regarding children and childhood that have, for much too long, been ignored and twisted, by what seems to have been a combination of many things and people. The most egregious of which is a deliberate narrative by most of the media. The amount of research and thought you put into this book is evident to me. I really enjoy the many explorations you take the reader through, pointing out how well read, intelligent, and even scholarly this man was. I especially found interesting how Jackson's take on Peter Pan is not at all what most people think or assume it is, although I was aware that he had read everything by Barrie.

Not at all surprising in that he studied anything he was interested in, inside and out and all around. Michael Eisner, former CEO of Disney from 1984-2005, said that Michael Jackson knew EVERYTHING about Disney, that there wasn't a living person who knew more about Walt Disney and Disney than him.
There is so much more I could say about this book and everything you so wonderfully explore and point out, using mythology, literature and eastern philosophies, etc. I am glad you touch on the utter lack of compassion for this man by most, who before our very eyes, lost the most important part of anyone's development into becoming a whole & complete adult, while delighting us the entire time through no fault or choice of his own. The lack of understanding, compassion and empathy for not only that very important loss that no one judging him could even remotely imagine, but for the two autoimmune diseases he suffered from that the he was not only mocked for but not even believed on, is so shameful to me.
I would highly recommend this wonderful book and I thank the author for writing it.

I found the book to be enjoyable and an insightful read about MJ. It gave me better insight into how and why MJ was so deeply loving and forgiving of others. It also helped me to more fully understand how he tried so hard to emotionally connected with others and how he searched for beauty in almost everything and how, in his own pain, he continued to love.
