Revue de presse

A decade later, the deluge of anniversary books is upon us. But if you really feel the need to return to that terrible day, the only indispensible title is the utterly compelling 9/11 Commission Report. The prose is blunt and bludgeoning but there is something weirdly irresistible about it. This is unquestionably the place to start. --Dominic Sandbrook, London Evening Standard

Présentation de l'éditeur

Published for the tenth anniversary of 9/11, this shorter edition of the authorised report is limited to the Commission's account of the attack and its background, examining both the attackers and the US government, the emergency response and the immediate aftermath. The afterword discusses the Commission's work and recommendations, and the way the struggle has evolved.

Zelikow's 9/11 Commission Report 26 novembre 2012
Par N. Delaney - Publié sur Amazon.com
Format: Broché
For anyone who has seriously studied the volumes written about the events of 9/11, Zelikow's book will be a confirmation of the numerous missing links associated with the "official" 9/11 Commission Report. He avoids heading into this mystic realm, hence he endorses the original report. In that light, one must question the book cover's label highlighting it as a National Book Award Finalist. This says little for whatever the NBAF purports to represent.

To better understand what Mr. Zelikow avoids and/or neglects to discuss, note that he is now identified as the White Burkett Miller Professor of History at the University of Virginia, I highly recommend reading the books of David Ray Griffin, Sibel Edmonds' "Classified Woman," and Susan Lindauer's "Extreme Prejudice." Zelikow's brief discussion of FBI investigations leading up to 9/11 fails to identify the FBI agents directly involved and implies that agency miscommunication was the main reason for their investigations not coming to light in time.

Regardless of one's persuasion, only by comparing numerous perspectives can a bigger picture be obtained of the events of 9/11 and how they all fit together. Those pieces quickly reveal patterns and those that don't belong will just as quickly reveal themselves.

Problems in the Report 30 juillet 2011
Par Washington, DC - Publié sur Amazon.com
Format: Broché
The blurbs in favor of this book by Time and Newsweek are interesting. Is the book accurate and unflinching? Can one know without actually doing further outside study? I was surprised to find that the former attorney for the commission, John Farmer, has made scathing criticisms of the its work, as did commissioner Senator Max Cleland, who evidently resigned in protest. Evidently family members of victims, The Family Steering Committee, has a long list of questions that they say have not been answered. Scholarly journals have published papers that point to omissions and flaws in the report and evidently the committee chairs say themselves that the report is not definitive. The favorable blurbs by Time and Newsweek are interesting.
