Présentation de l'éditeur

The world as it exists today is barely recognizable as the same world that existed on hundred, or even fifty, years ago. The last century has seen innovation after innovation reshape and revolutionize almost every aspect of human existence. Far from bringing us to an end point – a settled state in which no further innovation is possible – the rate of change has increased exponentially in recent decades. It seems that we a set firmly on a path of endless enhancement.

This leads us to ask: where does innovation come from, and how does it happen?

The answer, quite simply, is people. People have ideas. People strive to make their ideas a reality. Through this, people create change.

We call these people hackers. A hack is a small change to the recognized way of doing things, which leads to a large-scale increase in efficiency, success, or achievement. Hackers break the rules and change the game. Hackers are the most important members of our society, of any society, as they hold the power to shape the future.

This book celebrates the lives and achievements of some of history’s greatest hackers: from Tim Berners-Lee to Jack Dorsey, from Leonardo da Vinci to Steve Jobs. Learn about who they were and how they functioned. Discover the characteristics that allow hackers to keep pushing forward, innovating, revolutionizing industries and changing the world.

This is a very well written book that defines what innovation is and how it is achieved. All the leading companies manage to stay at the top of their respective industries, ahead of the competition and this book explains how. This has been a very informative read that celebrates the history of some of the ‘Greats’ behind some of the most incredible innovations the world has ever seen; including ‘the father of innovation’ himself; Leonardo Di Vinci. If you don’t find this book interesting then you simply don’t understand the importance and power of innovation. Brilliantly informative! *****

This book was an entertaining quick read filled with short story biographies of some of the worlds greatest innovators from Michaelanglo to Steve Jobs to Nikoli Tesla. They do not go into a huge depth but point out how they achieved a game changer status and what they did to innovate in ways others had not before.

The Art of Hacking is one of those books that manages to not only inspire you and reshape the way you think, but offers a unique and enlightening look at people through history who literally changed the face of our world. Can Akdeniz delves deep into the mindset, effects, success and changes that "hackers" have created in our world... providing a truly in depth and enlightening look at the people who made innovation and thinking outside the box a way of life.

The book is a wonderful read that had me eagerly reading from start to finish. It's equal parts a history/biography and a quasi how-to on just how to adapt the mindset of a hacker and begin creating change in your own life and that of the world. This is a well-written book that is engaging, informative, illuminating and thought-provoking. Overall, I have to say that it had a wealth of advice and insight into the art of hacking that made it well worth the read.

Absolutely outstanding book!!! A couple of pages into this book I knew it was something special. The author opened my eyes and my mind to the concept of innovation. I was fascinated by the stories of Da Vinci, Steve Jobs and other innovators who were determined to live life by playing by their own rules. As I dug deeper into the book, I began to see my own 10-year old son in these innovators...something I was not expecting. I am really grateful that I read this book when I did. I would recommend this book to anyone!!!!

“The Art of Hacking” is an excellent read that redefines the term “hacker” to what it used to mean: someone who was innovative enough to find new, better ways to accomplish ordinary, everyday tasks. Akdeniz’s book is a very informative read that explores some of the greats of the world, from Da Vinci to Steve Jobs.

Yes, that’s right…while you might think of hackers as the dark side of computers, finding ways to steal money from hapless Internet users, the older form of the word has been around since before computers were even invented. A hacker is a forward-thinking innovator, and “The Art of Hacking” explores some of the greatest hackers that you might have never thought of as hackers before. This book is highly recommended as an anthology of the stories of innovation. Read it today!
