Wonderful book that fully explains climate change 25 août 2014
Par Cali RN - Publié sur Amazon.com
Format: Broché Achat vérifié
Wonderful book that shows in detail through many methods and data what climate change is and what impact it is having on our world and populations. The eight parts of the book logically present the subject: 1) Signs of Change, 2) The Changing Climate, 3) Driving Climate Change, 4) Expected Consequences, 5) Responding to Change, 6) International Policy and Action, 7) Committing to Solutions, and 8) Climate Change Data.

Specific subjects (i.e., The Greenhouse Effect, Emissions Past & Present, Renewable Energy) within each chapter are presented on two-page formats, making the information easy and convenient to read and study.

Pictures, graphics and illustrations are top-notch on high quality, bright, heavy-weight paper. Graphs, tables, illustrations, statistics, factual observations and measurements support and enhance basic and detailed explanations of scientific principles and phenomena .... showing this information in an atlas format. Written information and graphics/illustrations complement each other - making this book great for visual learners.

This book is great either for someone with a strong background in the sciences or as a good introductory book to scientific principles, the world we live in, consequences and solutions. This would also be a good book for a young adult or a climate change denier (if they get past opening up the book).

This book illustrates that there are MANY factors that go into the contribution to and the effects of climate change. It provides an invaluable, indirect lesson on logic in addition to the premise of cause and effect.

Published by University of California Press and printed in Hong Kong.
Good resource. More summary of impacts/end results needed. 25 août 2014

Missing some "so-what," cumulative analysis. Was hoping for more maps of what the world's geography (eg forecasted weather, agriculture outcomes, etc would look like). Good data & graphics on temp changes, but not so much on what the average temps will be, what kinds of natural disaster they will likely have, and what life will look like in given areas as a result. I know that is hard to do, but that is what people are most after. Before and after analysis would be awesome too.

I used this book for a college science general education class, and it was easy for us non-STEM majors to understand.
