Helped me love myself post baby 6 juin 2014
Par Carla Khoo - Publié sur Amazon.com
Quite a few ladies are lucky to both have the ability to get pregnant, have babies and bounce right back - their bodies looking no different than before. Others have big changes to their bodies. Some couldn't or can't deliver their baby naturally. And, some can't have children at all. But we're still Mums/Moms. This book celebrates the bodies of all types of mothers, in all their glorious magnificent beauty - and the stories that made them what they are today. Buy this book, drink it in, feel inspired, then strip off, go into the bathroom and take a good look at that body of yours - and love it again. xxoo

This book is beautiful! It is presented exquisitely 5 juillet 2014
Par Jeniffer - Publié sur Amazon.com
This book is beautiful! It is presented exquisitely, with wide pages profiling images and stories of non-photoshopped mothers who are on a journey to see the truth about themselves and all people: That we are all beautiful just as we are. It is a celebration of motherhood, but it is also part of a revolutionary movement that challenges the narrow definitions of beauty defined by an industry that makes billions of dollars by selling lies. The photography is stunning and the layout is first class. This book is for anyone who is a mother or came from a mother. Can’t wait to see what truth Jade Beall will photograph next.

no matter how perfect or imperfect they may seem to the world around ... 5 juillet 2014
Par Samantha J. McMillan - Publié sur Amazon.com
The most important thing I can say about this book is don't just look at the pictures. Read the stories. Read the poems and the essays. All our bodies tell a story. They tell of loss and triumph, birth and sickness and recovery. They have scars and stretchmarks and cellulite (yes, almost all bodies have cellulite...no matter the pant size). And when you read a person's story in concert with these pictures, you can truly see the beauty in all these different bodies, in the things that brought them to where they are. There are birth mothers and adoptive mothers, families with two mothers and families of single mothers. There are miscarriages and stillbirths and the ravages of cancer or eating disorders or a hundred other things we might all be going through, or might all have experienced or have yet to experience in our lives. There are different heights, different dress sizes, different butts and different sizes of breasts, and the one commonality running through all these women is that no matter their size, no matter how perfect or imperfect they may seem to the world around them, they have ALL experienced vulnerability, fear, and shame over their bodies. We all see ourselves as imperfect. The point of this book isn't that fat bodies are awesome or skinny bodies are better or anything like that. It's that your body has taken you somewhere. It has gotten you from birth to wherever it is you are now, and for all that it's done, for all that it's been through--it's amazing. People are attracted to different things--some to tall, some to short, some to brunettes, some to slender and some to fat, and so on--but that doesn't even matter.

What matters is that you see that your body isn't all that different from everyone else's, and that all people share the dark thoughts and the negativity that you've struggled with before. It's about examining your body, what it's done for you and your family, and accepting yourself, loving yourself as you are right now. It doesn't mean don't change. It doesn't mean don't eat healthy, abandon all exercise...it means love yourself. See the beauty in these women--all of them, and their stories--and in yourself. And taking care of yourself is always a part of loving yourself. The happier you are with yourself, the healthier your body becomes because you take care of yourself--whatever your size.

The stories are important because we form such opinions from looking at a person. We judge them and their lives from a snapshot, and the stories in this book tell us so much more than what the camera sees. It teaches us to look at a person and try to see all of them, to want to know more, to see what made the shape beneath their skin...and our own.

I LOVE, this book! And I LOVE the woman who made it! As a woman who has been pregnant 4 times and has 3 beautiful, healthy, smart and wonderful children, I give this book two VERY enthusiastic thumbs up. My body has been through hell! LOL! I have stretch marks for days, weighed up to 323 lbs., had high blood pressure and arthritis by the time I was 35, then had gastric bypass while living in Germany so yeah... I've been through MANY ups and downs in this wonderful body that is MINE! This book (and lady) reminds me how important I am and how important this body is to my husband and children! I would give this as a gift to ANY open-minded new mommy! Just as a reminder of how wondrous she and her body are!

A Beautiful Collection of Biographies!!! 6 juin 2014
Par Lorraine - Publié sur Amazon.com
Having had the pleasure myself of being photographed by Jade, my autographed copy arrived and cried with every page. a lot of work goes into just one shoot. Imagine what it is like to compile a book of each person's photo shoot. Imagine further the work behind each individual. Her children, her mother, family and life's work. Through the years each of us become covered and words cannot reveal what each of us want expressed. Is beauty the object, or is it acceptance. I whole-heartedly invite you to find out by being brave enough to pick this book up. Enjoy!
