Anybody can write and publish a book, but not everyone is good at marketing. Norm does a great job explaining marketing pitfalls and how to successfully sell your book, after all everyone would like to get paid for more than 250 books! Fantastic insight and thought provoking facts that I'll keep as reference material for my library!

As a first-time author and a how-to guide junkie, I've taken a whirlwind tour of tomes on marketing books. This one is truly refreshing not only in its comprehensiveness, but in the playfulness of writing style and out-of-left-field pointers. I am also reading Norm's "South of Normal," and for him to be writing in that book that it was his dream to write his first to have blown the roof off of book sales to the point that he can have this much credibility and knowledge is quite remarkable. Anyone who can excel in a new field that quickly deserves to be listened to. After all, isn't that what all of us truly want to do as well?

The book gives you the essentials on not only how to market but also what to expect, how to handle nay-sayers, and how to stay the course. Norm also knows social media, and that shines through in this book. Finally, unique pointers like "Contact the Mayor's Office," "Interview Yourself," and "Register a Definition with the Urban Dictionary" are an intense value proposition to read the book just in and of themselves!

This great book is a gem, and one that every serious writer should own. Norm incorporates so many free techniques that can catapult the success of virtually any book or author. Having written a dozen books myself (starting back in the pre-Internet days), I've probably done just about everything--including spending money foolishly on 'experts' that promised to promote my books--and I'm here to tell you that Norm's efforts in this book honestly capture the current, most effective and affordable techniques there are in book marketing. Using the Internet, social media, blogging, and the numerous other strategies he suggests will undoubtedly give authors a voice in a very crowded marketing. Well done!

There are a lot of marketing books out there but Mr Schriever made this one understandable and fun. I discovered other ways to market I didn't know about.
