Insomnia is a common problem suffered by many people including me. I have read many books that offer cures for insomnia, but none of them came close to this book in terms of the usefulness of the advices. I like that the cures in this book are non-pharmacological. The methods are simple yet effective, I could easily understand and follow them to relax myself and be ready for a sweet dream. If you suffer from insomnia, this is a book you should definitely give a try.

I consider myself that I don't have chronic insomnia, but I do get it enough that it can really wreak havoc on my personal life. I've tried everything...from pills to meditation, and nothing has ever really worked. Thankfully, after reading this book, I've found relief! The tips this book gives are easy to implement, and they WORK. It's really helped me get to sleep on those nights when nothing else will.

As another reviewer here has mentioned, the tips in this book are all ones that anyone with long-term insomnia is already probably aware of. I know they were for me.

Nothing really wrong with this guide if you are starting to look for answers from square one. For the rest of us, who have suffered with insomnia for a long time or for periods of time, over the years, I don't think this would be much help.

I have found that getting up when I am tossing and turning and doing something until I am VERY TIRED and can't stay awake, is the best remedy for me, again and again. And NOT to worry about missing sleep and being tired the next day, that just adds to the problem.

I also have found that valerian only makes me hyper and is not relaxing or helpful at all. I hope these tips might help someone reading here too. :-)

I was disappointed that there were no sources of information provided. What studies? This just is not enough information to really help. It mentions types of insomnia. I was given a diagnosis of severe..... where did they get the three types? Natural remedies can have side effects to and can be dangerous. Snake venom is natural. Some great ideas were mentioned yoga but not the postures good for sleeping.... instead you say go to a yoga instructor. Not a word about Yoga Nidra. The discussion of alternate nostril breathing was confusing if you have studied it in the area of Yoga breathing it is not just breathing through one nostril so the terminology is confusing. This book just starts some ideas but it is not really a stand out source for curing real insomnia. If one knows the cause that must be dealt with and usually solves the problem. Chronic pain is one many have. Doctors generally give pills out but are not great sources for behavioral issues as a regular MD which means one needs to visit specialists. The tv thing everyone talks about being so bad was an aid for me but I was reading subtitles and they put me to sleep and my lap top blacked out from inactivity when show was over. Everyone is different. This was a good start of a set of ideas. It just was not outstanding and not complete enough. This just blends with tons of other pamphlets. I wish people would stop flooding with things like this and do something that was more complete and worthwhile. It is kind of like playing twinkle twinkle little star it has already been said and done. I would of been much happier had one added web links, comments of resources they tried and where they came from, shown research. This was just kind of like someone talking that has had insomnia and sharing base concepts they found helpful. Again not a bad read just not outstanding or anymore helpful than the average. If one has truly experienced insomnia this won't be enough to get them out of the pit of sleepless nights.
