Présentation de l'éditeur

**newly edited 9/2012**

The year is 1180 A.D. and times are very dark. England is lawless for the most part and the people live in fear. Rising to power during this time is the vicious and brutal knight Ajax de Velt. His mission is to conquer a large stretch of the Scots and Welsh border, commandeering wealth and property along the way. He wants to be the most feared and powerful warlord in all of England, Wales and Scotland, and he is well on his way.

The last in a long line of dark and brutal warriors, Ajax is the most ruthless and ambitious knight in the Isles; even the heartiest warriors fear the man for his coldblooded tactics. More than that, his bloodlust, as well as his sheer skill with a blade, is legendary. But as Ajax and his army conquer the latest castle in his plans to secure the borders, he unexpectedly meets his match in a spitfire of a woman named Kellington Coleby.

Beautiful, intelligent and feisty, Lady Kellington refuses to surrender to the man as handsome as he is brutal. The warlord and the maiden go head to head in this unforgettable story of love, battle, devotion, fear and adventure.

Biographie de l'auteur

Kathryn started out at age 13 writing a space-travel novel, inspired by a recently-released film called "Star Wars". The following years were filled with minimal writing, mostly on spiral notebooks in the days before personal computers. Then, in 1992, Kathryn decided to get serious. "Your writing can either be a hobby or it can be who you are. Make your choice." That was some advice she received from an established author. So she made a choice; she was going to make writing who she was. Historical fiction was her passion and she learned everything she could about it. Kathryn's Medieval Historicals have been called 'amazing' and 'character-rich'. She believes that total immersion in a time period and a subject is essential to create the perfect story. It's all a formula, like a mathematical equation: First, you need a great title. It sets the mood. Then, you need the perfect hero and heroine. Give your people flaws, because real people have flaws. And then hammer out the most interesting, touching and romantic story you can. Although Kathryn's passion is her Medievals, she is very prolific and proficient at writing her Contemporary Adventure Romances. Those are her most popular books and she has five of them to date, including three that are in a series, that are her best sellers. Her objects of interest? Biblical Relics, Egypt and the mysterious jungles of the Yucatan to name a few. Her heroines are strong, intelligent and beautiful, and her heroes are usually tall, dark, very handsome and VERY big. You'll notice that. Kathryn doesn't have a hero in her contemporary novels under six feet four inches. But, just like her Historicals, the Contemporary novels are extensively researched and written with great thought and detail. One of her novels, Lady of Heaven, is currently being adapted into a screenplay. Kathryn has been described as a reader's writer - she knows what readers like and she writes from the heart. Read Kathryn Le Veque's novels and fall in love again... and again... and again.... Kathryn is the author of 21 novels and counting.

4.0 étoiles sur 5 Shades of Monty Python and the Holy Grail 29 juillet 2012

There were a few scenes in this book when Kelli found herself in the midst of warring knights that are filled with comedic moments to rival the movie Monty Python and the Holy Grail, with a dash of Shrek thrown in to keep the laughs coming in an otherwise brutal Medieval Romance . One scene in particular had me bent over with laughter when Kelli and Jax went into the nearest village to hire men to work the upcoming harvest, the Shrek vibe was strong. I loved The Dark Lord for the romance between Lady Kellington and Jax de Velt. When their worlds collide it seemed like Heaven and Hell clashed. Kelli had only known love and tenderness whereas Jax was a product of his dark and brutal upbringing. She will infuriate, irritate and annoy Jax while getting under his skin to the point she makes a permanent home in his heart. Jax did not put up much of a fight. He admitted to Kelli he fell in love with her the moment they met. How they expressed their growing love for one another was adorable.

Be warned there are some merciless cruel moments that some readers might have a problem with, I thought those scene gave the book a bit of realism for the time this story supposedly takes place. The Dark Lord is the story of how a very insensitive and ruthless knight falls in love with an innocent young maiden amongst the carnage of a seige. There is 1 sex scene that had a nice build up, so if you are looking for a lot of sex you want find it here. You also will not find an over abundance of details describing the daily medieval life, castle or way of speaking. If those things are important to you they are not in this book. What you will find is a very delightful romance.

5.0 étoiles sur 5 Beauty & the Beast 15 juillet 2012

I'm a big fan of the Beauty & the Beast type of story lines in medieval historical's that I read and this definitely fit the bill. Jax is apparently the most brutal mercenary warlord around with deeds rivaling Vlad the Impaler, Lady Kellington takes it upon herself to teach him compassion and along the way they fall in love. The reviewers questioning how Lady Kellington could possibly fall for such a hulking brute...deep down I think we all love the bad boy.

There were some pretty humorous bits but I don't want to ruin it for anyone. I'm happy I picked this up, I had never read this author and now I've grabbed up a number of her books for my Kindle Fire in hopes that they are just as good.
