One piece of advice...don't use one of those tiny slow cookers you get free for opening up an acct with a bank...u know the ones I'm talking about? The ingredients fit fine but it needs more "bubbling up, rising room" than I thought it would. It would have been helpful for the author to indicate how many quart/size cooker is recommended to make the dump cakes. Also, using a 6 qt slow cooker is really great for doubling up the recipe, turn the temp down abt 50 Degrees and bake abt 10-15 minutes more. Making one recipe in the larger one..maybe it's too big?... it comes out a little dry. Guess you will figure out your own cooker because they are all a little different as you know if you use one a lot.
But if you use the larger size when doubling and one smaller for one recipe you should be fine using directions as Is. As long as you don't use the free mini cooker like I did when i first tried :) does anyone have ANY Recipes that actually work in those things lol.
The Apple caramel recipe is AWESOME, but it's definitely more work than your typical dump cake recipe. I guess I think dump cake...I think dump everything in at one time, no fuss no muss kind of recipes. Many of the recipes in this book have extra steps so aren't quite as easy as many others I've tried. That and the fewer pots, pans etc u need to use is the main reason I love dump recipes. If you are a "dump cake purest" and don't want extra dishes to wash or the need to finish extra steps BEFORE u can dump...make sure you read the recipe first and pick out the one that is a true dump cake recipe.
But if you don't mind or if you have a little extra time try the Apple caramel recipe...it is so good I can't recommend it enough!!!
The angel food cake dump cake recipe is really good too. Really really good! (Are there any recipes that are actually bad when it comes to cake,? Lol ) It's got a nice fluffy texture on the outside with some crispy corners and a gooey yummy one on the inside so you have two different flavors almost. Both are really yummy.
Well I'm off to try a few more of the recipes. If you love dump cakes this book has quite a few I hadn't tried before and I'd recommend buying it...or getting it for 99 cents like I did. Was definitely work the buck :) Enjoy your dumping... that didn't quite sound right..but you get the idea ladies or gents!!
