Présentation de l'éditeur

NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER

From Maria Menounos, self-proclaimed EveryGirl and host of Extra, comes a lasting weight-loss program based on the Mediterranean diet of her childhood that will encourage women to think “smarter, simpler, healthier”—a personal mantra that helped the star lose (and keep off!) forty pounds.

TV host and journalist Maria Menounos was once more than forty pounds overweight, low on energy, and often sick. Desperate for a change, she tried a wide array of diet and exercise fads—with zero success. Like most EveryGirl out there, Maria lacked the time, money, energy, and willpower to get in shape.

Determined to overcome those obstacles, Maria spent a year developing commonsense diet, exercise, and lifestyle techniques that transcended traditional nutrition and weight-loss plans. As a result, she lost the extra pounds, regained her energy and health—and saw her career take off. Now, applying those techniques and bolstered by the wisdom, insight, and secrets of some of the world’s leading health and fitness experts—as well as the glamorous, superfit superstars she interviews regularly—Maria has created the ultimate no-time, no-money, no-willpower guide to losing weight, getting fit, and gaining long-term health and success: The EveryGirl’s Guide to Diet and Fitness.

Inside, you’ll discover all of Maria’s secrets:

• her 9-step plan for losing weight fast
• her lifelong plan for health and well-being
• a complete blueprint for rebuilding your physical and emotional foundation
• healthy, delicious, and easy-to-prepare recipes
• the quickest, easiest, most effective workouts (no gym or trainer required!)
• 1,000+ tips, tricks, and techniques for losing weight, getting fit, and staying that way
• how to do it all when time and money are in short supply

The EveryGirl’s Guide to Diet and Fitness is simply the most complete, effective, and convenient manual for all the EveryGirls out there who lack the time, money, or willpower to change. It’s not merely a weight-loss book. It’s a guide to help you get fit, feel healthy, be productive, and embark on a longer, happier, healthier life!

Praise for The EveryGirl’s Guide to Diet and Fitness

Livre totalement inutile. A part répéter 56 fois qu'elle boit de l'eau chaude a longueur de journée, elle raconte pas grand chose. Grosso modo c'est un album photo de ses amis les " people"!! Au secours!!!

2.0 étoiles sur 5 An EveryGirl's Review of the Maria Menounos Diet 6 juin 2014
Par KeepReading - Publié sur Amazon.com
Format:Format Kindle
After I finished the book I went back to Amazon to see if anyone left with the same feelings I had on this book, and was surprised to see only glowing reviews. I can't help but wonder that since the book came out a few days ago, and most people have jobs (I happen to be on sabbatical, so have plenty of time to read diet books all day) the 20+ immediate 5-star reviews might, in some part, be powered by a PR machine. Maybe I'm jaded.
I'm giving this book two stars. At the end of the day it's not harmful. It's not even a diet really. And since no one will screw up their lives doing it, it does deserve some credit. I had read an article by the author in Ladies Home Journal a few months ago with an excerpt consisting of steps for lasting weight loss. They seemed pretty doable and practical, so I pre-ordered the book. The two page spread in LHJ was basically the only worthwhile part of the book.
The pros:
-Maria basically tells you how she lost weight, which was to cut back on serving sizes gradually and do some pretty basic exercises. I actually really appreciate the non-crazy, totally do-able, advice.

The cons:
-The books is very repetitive. She even writes "As I've said before" like 9000+ times. If you've already said it, why are you saying it again? This book cost money, I would rather there actually be new information on each page, not the same three pages repeated ad nausea for 300 pages.
-It's an infomercial. I really wondered while reading the book if the author wasn't paid to recommend certain brands and people throughout.
-I now know more about Maria Menounos's parents than I do about my own. It's sweet that she loves her parents, I love mine too, but at most their story warrants maybe a few pages, perhaps a chapter to be generous, but they seriously take up half the book. Here's the gist: Her dad is diabetic, to control his blood sugar the family generally eats pretty healthy, mostly vegetarian food. Maria went crazy in college, gained a few pounds and then quickly dropped them.
-It's very scattered and not very well written. I felt like I was listening to a 6-year old who had a million stories to tell me. Maybe that's because I have a six year old. "And one time I did this, and you should do this, hey look at a picture of me climbing stairs, here's me in my house, look at my boyfriend, and this is fun...drink hot water all the time!"

Here's the tips Maria shared with Ladies Home Journal, they're basically the entire book:
MY EVERYGIRL WEIGHT-LOSS JOURNEY
The steps that helped me drop 40 pounds--and keep them off for good.

STEP 1: SET A DEADLINE

STEP 2: KEEP IT TO YOURSELF

STEP 3: TIE IT TO AN EVENT

STEP 4: WRITE DOWN ALL THAT YOU EAT IN A WEEK

STEP 5: CUT BACK SLOWLY

STEP 6: START RECORDING YOUR EXERCISE, TOO

STEP 7: AVOID THE SCALE

STEP 8: EAT YOUR CALORIES; BE SURE NOT TO DRINK THEM

STEP 9: IF YOU LIKE DESSERT, HAVE IT

STEP 10: REJOICE AND REWARD!

If you're looking for a celebrity diet book with substance, I recommend Cameron Diaz's, "The Body Book." It's far more factually sound.

Nothing in this book was new to me. And her braggy way of self promotion was getting to me.. Props to her and her flat stomach, but not exactly for the every girl. Lot of talking, little actual helpful tips.

I saw Maria Menounos on Good Morning America and thought that she seemed "real" and ordered her books right away. After flipping through both of them for about 20 minutes I knew they had to go back. I feel like her books are her own personal brag books. Pages are filled with her in cute poses as she talks about her wonderful life achievements and losing her college weight. Though she and I are both in our 30s, I have had two children and have a much different income. We hardly relate. I just felt that it was a lot of fluff. Good intentions, but fluff.

3.0 étoiles sur 5 I wouldn't consider this a health book 10 juin 2014

Maria made a few great points. She isn't obsessive with fitness and I love that she emphasizes being more active by couting your steps. She is also very realistics. However, This book was VERY repetitive. A lot of what she discussed was discussed in her first book.
