Biographie de l'auteur

Marla Heller is a Registered Dietitian, and holds a Master of Science in Human Nutrition and Dietetics from the University of Illinois at Chicago. She was trained in DASH by one of the original architects of the original NIH research and has been working for over 15 years to help her patients put DASH into practice. Heller has been the featured nutrition expert for the Chicago Tribune and Washington Post and she is a spokesperson for the Greater Midwest Affiliate of the American Heart Association. She is the author of The New York Times Bestseller The DASH Diet Action Plan and The DASH Diet Weight Loss Solution.

Marla Heller has presented a collection of elegant, yet easy, recipes that anyone can prepare and enjoy. This cookbook proves you don't need to be a trained chef or have a kitchen stocked in obscure specialty ingredients to prepare classy and healthy meals following the DASH Diet (which doctors and US News and World Report rank as the #1 food plan year after year for bringing down excess weight, high blood pressure, and preventing/managing diabetes). This cookbook has breakfasts, entrees, sides, salads, and desserts for every taste, including family favorites and fancier dishes for entertaining. The chapter on salads alone is worth the cost of the book. The recipes are thoughtfully presented in an easy-to-follow format, and the book opens with a nice section on cooking using the DASH Diet princples and what items one should have on hand when cooking the DASH way. The book also includes beautiful color photos of many of the recipes. It is a perfect companion to Marla Heller's DASH Diet Weight Loss Solution, but it stands alone as a go-to cookbook that one is sure to go back to again and again. This outstanding cookbook delivers!

I started the Dash Diet in March,2013 and have lost total 25 lbs and the support you get from the facebook page from the author of this book. I received my cookbook this week have looked it over and this is going to help me greatly. The book is very well done clear and easy to follow. The pictures are bright and colorful makes you want to go out and cook the meals they show. Marla Heller is a great writer and very knowledgeable in the area of healthy eating and exercise. I do not know or understand why any one would give this anything less then 5 stars maybe its another author that is jeaslous or just plan ignorant. You should take a look at this book and any book that Marla Heller has written. The Dash Diet Weight loss Solutions is the diet I am on and i love it. It's a change of lifestyle not a diet actually. Very Very happy with my purchase.

This book has the ability to change countless lives. Eating more fruits, veggies and whole grains can only improve anyone's life, particularly those of us who rely on restaurants, take out, and yes our beloved Costco pre-made foods, to feed our overworked, tired, too sedentary bodies. This diet can teach you how to enjoy food that tastes like nature intended it to taste, minus the fat, sugar and especially SODIUM that we love and crave so much. I only gave this cookbook a 3 Star rating because of two things. First, the portions are too small. Yes, I know that nutritionists want us to eat tiny meals upteen times per day, drink only water and never drink more than 4 oz per wine a day. HA! Let them try to live with my husband on that plan for a week! I'd rather not!! So...why not keep portions large enough to satisfy large, hungry people and yet fill those plates with more veggies, fruits and lean meats. This diet claims to do this, but the actual portions given in the recipes are very small, even in the veggie dept. The second reason this book is not a winner in my opinion is because the title is misleading. I wouldn't use these recipes "Everyday," as they are too complicated and time consuming for daily use. I will keep the book, as it certainly has some recipes worth making but it isn't one I would grab for a quick dinner after a long day. The American Heart Association Cookbook would be a much better choice, the newer one not one of the older ones, as the recipes in the older ones tended to be bland and boring. Also, going back in time, it is well worth giving space on your cookbook shelf to Jane Brody's Good Food Book. I'm not sure it's in print but get it if you can! She believed in large, filling portions but small amounts of meat, fat and sodium. I've replaced my original cookbook several times because the original books were bound poorly and always fell apart. I keep a rubber band around the one I have now. I'd love to see it reissued in a hardback, or binder type book, like the Better Homes and Gardens cookbooks.

I still believe that the DASH Diet is a good diet to live by. I've been following its guidelines for a month now and my high blood pressure is slowing inching its way back down. I've lost five pounds and definitely feel better than I have in a long time. In the 80's and 90's I was much more careful about what I fed my family as I wanted my kids to learn healthy habits. This way of eating also helped my husband and myself. My blood pressure was always low, my cholesterol in good check and my weight was never an issue. As my kids grew up we could afford to eat out more, and for time sake began to use too many convenience foods. I'm getting back to my old way of cooking, and we are both benefiting from it. My advice, use this book as a learning tool, not the main cookbook in your kitchen.

I received my book a few days ago. I have the DASH DIET Weight Loss Solution book, which has some really great and easy recipes.
I've been doing DASH since March - I love this diet because it's easy so when I ordered the Cookbook, I was anxious for some "new recipes". I already tried a few and they are really easy to make. This is a nice companion to the Weight loss solution book.
I can't wait to try more recipes and continue my journey on my weight loss. I think you will love this cookbook!!! You won't be sorry

This DASH diet cookbook is awesome addition to the DASH diet Weight Loss Solution book that has continued to keep me healthy in such a short time! In just two weeks I lost 13 pounds and lowered my blood pressure by 30 points! My doctor was so thrilled. It is done in two Phases ... Phase I is first two weeks, Phase II is the rest of your life. So easy to follow with normal easy to purchase foods. You reduce your sugar, reduce your salt and learn to live so HEALTHY!!!!! This cookbook provides to many easy to follow meals with the skills already learned with the DASH diet lifestyle of healthy eating and living. Try it... you will NOT be disappointed. THANKS MARLA ...
