Des doublons avec l'autre livre du même auteur mais c'est normal, cependant, ce livre est très intéressant et grâce aux recettes on peut presque se passer d'un four traditionnel....J'avais acheté ce four halogène mais les recettes n'étaient pas aussi complètes, et ici l'utilisation journalière de cette petite merveille est possible. Attention cependant, regarder la lampe halogène quand elle se met en route n'est pas conseillée par mon ophtalmo....le four est mis dans une pièce comme la buanderie, une fois la cuisson terminée et la cuisson annoncée terminée par le signal de fin de cuisson, pas de problème..
Les conseils sont bons, rien à redire...

I like the book a lot; I bought it after I bought a halogen countertop oven and wasn't sure how to use it.

I only gave it 3 stars because I did not realize this book is published in the UK and uses UK measurements and temperatures. I'm in the US so I have to convert everything when I use a recipe. Not a huge problem; I mostly got the book to get an overview of how to use this type of oven vs. a conventional oven. I just make notes in the book when I use a recipe so I know what to do next time.

The book also has a lot of recipes for things that are unfamiliar to me (Toad in the Hole??). But I find that interesting; I might try a few and broaden my horizons!

The Everyday Halogen Oven Cookbook, by nutritionist Sarah Flower, provides a host of delicious and healthy recipes for all users--beginners, intermediates, or advanced--to enjoy without spending hours to perfect. What's especially unique about this cookbook, and separates it from the rest, is its implementation of the halogen oven. The halogen oven is perfect for those who live alone or for whipping up a quick bite to eat.

A statistic on the back cover of the book states that the halogen oven can cook up to 40% faster than a conventional oven, and basically executes the same functions: baking, grilling, defrosting, roasting, and steaming. Author of other cookbooks like Live More Spend Less, Eat Well Spend Less, and Slow Cook, Fast Food, Sarah combines her expertise in nutrition with delicious meals to provide recipes that are healthy, efficient (time-wise), and enjoyable by the entire family.

Chapter One is entirely devoted to learning how to use and maximize the features of the halogen oven. The next few chapters discuss everything from snacks, potatoes, meat, fish, vegetarian dishes, desserts, and cakes; there is something for everyone. More importantly, her nutritionist self shines brightly at the end, where she has developed an in-depth four-week meal plan for meat and fish diets, and a two-week meal plan for vegetarian diets. Each week is broken down into a day-by-day account of meals. Also, there is an extensive list of necessary cupboard essentials, such as olive oil, paprika, mixed herbs, and red wine.

Some of the most delicious, yet healthy recipes presented in the book include Baked Cinnamon Apples (p.191), Roasted Pumpkin Soup (p. 159), Potato Cheese and Spring Onion Tortilla (p. 49), Stuffed Trout (p. 125), and there are many more. Her step-by-step narrative style makes a connection with the reader, and makes it easier to understand and use the recipes.

Sarah Flower's The Everyday Halogen Oven Cookbook is the perfect for any kitchen, a thoughtful gift for the new bride, and great for young people--particularly college students who would like a quick and handy way to enjoy a healthy diet.

I don't "do" recipes very well, preferring instead to just throw stuff together. I had been hoping my BIG BOSSTM 1300-Watt Oil-Less Fryer, 16-Quart would be my go-to cooker instead of the microwave, but I haven't quite been able to figure out how to get the timing and temperature right for good results and so have not used it as frequently as I thought I would.

Immediately on receiving this cookbook (now with measurements adjusted for U.S. cooks!), I could see what I've been doing wrong. Flower's introduction both corrected my technique and gave me confidence that, yes, I will be able to follow my "just throw stuff together" predilection. Flowers encourages experimentation, and it's clear she loves her halogen oven.

Each recipe is laid out with the ingredients separated from the "put it together" part and arranged to the outer portion of the page to make it easier to assemble ingredients beforehand. For people who are averse to recipes, like me, this is a helpful arrangement. To try the recipes, I can make myself assemble the ingredients or, as is my wont, just scrounge around for something similar to throw together.

As far as the recipes themselves go, there are easier ones (like the potatoes, snacks, and sandwich-type dishes) that seem ideal to give the new halogen oven owner experience with how it works. There are casseroles and vegetable dishes and even cakes and other desserts, along with the meat, fish, and poultry dishes. A few require you to pre-prep ingredients on the stovetop, but most of them can be handled entirely with the oven.

The value of this book is as a learning tool to help you get used to, and actually use, your halogen oven. It has a good variety of recipes to allow you to put your halogen oven through its paces, but once you have done that, if you're anything like me, you'll be putting together your own dishes out of ingredients you have on hand. There aren't a lot of books out there on halogen ovens, so if you are new to them, you can't go wrong getting this book. The tips peppered in here and there are helpful, too. (I thought the one from the RVer about using a halogen oven as a mini-dishwasher was fantastic!)

I was a little hesitant about purchasing this book given the mixed reviews. However, the kindle edition was very reasonably priced ($5.82) and I lived in Ireland so I reckoned I would both understand the measurements and the so-called strange ingredients and not be out of pocket too much if it didn't work out.

It is a good recipe book, basic but with clear explanations and helpful hints about using a halogen oven.

Some of the recipes, particularly in the first section on snacks are very English: Rarebit and welsh rarebit for instance. However strange the name, it should be remembered that they are simply toast with a type of cheese sauce. A bacon butty is a bacon sandwich. Rashers of bacon are bacon strips or Canadian bacon. Toad-in-the hole are sausages in a savory pancake batter. And you can substitute English muffins for crumpets.

The strange ingredients are simply UK names for fairly common ingredients.

Swede = Rutabaga. Turnip will also work.
Aubergines = Eggplant
Marmite = yeast extract. It is intensely flavored. Miso can work as a substitute as can concentrated stock or a dash of soy or bragg's amino acids
Icing sugar = Confectioners sugar
Castor sugar = superfine sugar
Plain flour = All purpose flour
Self-raising flour = Flour with the appropriate amount of raising agent (Baking powder) added for your altitude plus salt. Often, 1 cup of all-purpose flour, plus 1 1/4 teaspoon of baking powder and 1/4 teaspoon of salt.

Cornflour = corn starch.
Homemade chips = Home made French fries.

Mince, as in minced chicken, turkey or beef = Ground chicken, turkey or beef.
Veggie mince = TVP = textured vegetable protein = textured soy protein (TSP), soy or other meat substitute

Not all the recipes call for measured ingredients. In those that do, the measurements are an issue as 300g of flour gives a different cup measurement to 300g wine or 300g meat so it is not easy to convert in your head. And since England still uses both metric and imperial measurements, it is a pity the book doesn't reflect that. Imperial measurements are easier to mentally convert to cup measurements. I have a weighing scales that does the trick but not everyone will.

Likewise, the temperature conversions can be off putting if you have never done so before but they are not as tricky as the weight/volume measurements.

The author has released a US suitable version of the print book but that version is not available on kindle.

For me, the kindle edition was worth the money. If you can get over the temperature and measurement differences, I would recommend the book.

I'm from Australia and this book is fabulous because it's full of recipes with ingredients I know and can get.
The recipes are easy to follow and so far everything I have tried has been fabulous.

Highly recommend this book for Halogen Oven owners!
