This is an excellent book, carefully researched by two specialists in the field.

The history of the demonization of DDT should be a lesson to society: if public policy decisions are based on science, then activists-'however well intentioned'-must take the back seat. The trend for policy to be set by persons posing as scientists and speaking in the language of science is a dangerous one.

In this and several other fields, environmental lobby groups have strayed far from the path of conservation, pollution control and other important objectives.

It is a credit to the World Health Organization that they have finally re-approved the use of DDT for public health purposes. In regions where malaria mosquitoes are still susceptible to the "powder" this has led to tremendous improvement in human health, with many lives saved.

I hope this book will be widely read, though I doubt it will succeed in dousing people's fears that DDT is dangerous to human health. The truth is that, used in tiny quantities applied to the indoor walls of houses, it has saved millions of lives without any of the horrendous impacts that are commonly assumed to be "proven" by scientists.

The Excellent History of DDT 10 juillet 2010
Par NickJ - Publié sur Amazon.com
It's an indictment of the mainstream media that the environmental movement has been allowed to get away with what amounts to mass murder through the banning of DDT. While I had been aware of the general outline of this travesty, the book covers the history of DDT's use from the 1940's to 1960's to virtually wipe out malaria in countries around the world, and the disgraceful and ongoing campaign by the environmental movement to suppress the use of this lifesaving substance based on pure junk science.

As the World Health Organization itself said in 1969, "DDT has been the main agent in eradicating malaria... and of having saved at least 2 billion people in the world without causing the loss of a single life by poisoning from DDT alone."

What I hadn't been aware of before is that DDT prevents malaria not by killing mosquitoes, though it can do that, but by repelling them from the insides of homes sprayed with the substance. Mosquitoes can't stand to be anywhere near DDT, and it repels them for 6 months to a year from a single spraying. This effect alone is enough to virtually eliminate malaria, dengue fever, and several other mosquito borne diseases if houses are systematically sprayed.

If you're not aware of this virtually unknown story, you owe it to yourself to come up to speed on this subject - you won't find out about it in the mainstream press. A million people a year are dying unnecessarily and hundreds of millions more are afflicted with debilitating, life threatening diseases so the environmental movement can worship its false gods.

This does much to dispell the myth of DDT created by the green movement 6 mars 2013

I happen to know Richard Tren and can say without reservation he is a man of integrity. He has been fighting the good fight against malaria for many years and clearly recognizes the need for this life saving product. Every year new "studies" are touted to support claims that DDT should have been banned, such as the Pine River study and the British Journal of Urology article that claimed DDT caused urogentital birth defects in children. These and so many of the issues surrounding green myths regarding DDT are dealt with here. This is a "must read" for those who care about this subject.

History of DDT is Must Reading 10 janvier 2014

Would recommend this book to anyone curious about the history of DDT. Almost everything you "know" about this powder is wrong. The powder (originally discovered accidentally) was intended to be used INSIDE dwellings, where it works to mainly REPEL, not kill malaria bearing mosquitos. A respected but uninformed researcher once suggested that the powder should be applied outdoors to kill insects, leading to great harm and a false view of this massively beneficial substance. If available today, and used properly, millions of humans could be spared from the horrible effects of malaria. Well researched and documented---a must read.

An excellent book 28 mai 2014

I highly recommend this book to anyone who wants to learn how DDT actually affects mosquitos, and how Rachel Carson's nonsensical and unscientific Silent Spring got so many things wrong. The banning of DDT is one of the greatest world tragedies of the 20th century. Thankfully, the ban is being lifted, albeit rather slowly.
The truth can't come out soon enough! 28 août 2014
Par Chris Larken - Publié sur Amazon.com
You will find a refreshing truth about a lie that has gone on for far too long. A genuine factual explanation to the junk science and gothic tale that "Silent Spring" was based upon from the confused and twisted mind of Rachael Carson. The rogue EPA was pressured by the eugenics crowd of the left to make a first attempt on reducing world population growth after the fall of the Third Reich. Eugenics started in nazi Germany. Now leftists in the EPA used a government agency to pressure the rest of society. DDT was just the test flight for what was to come. But this book explains the science that developed a miraculous chemical which had prevented the spread of vector diseases and plagues that kill more humans than all the wars in history combined.
DDT was tested, studied, and tested again over and over for safety years before it became available to the general public. The military saved thousands of troops with its first use in 1943 Italy during WWII. There is not one documented case of DDT causing any ills or cancer, let alone death. And that my friends is reality. It make take time, but the truth always comes out leftists. Thank God for that.
