Présentation de l'éditeur

When men and material start to disappear—UN personnel and their vehicles in Cyprus, the inspectors and their vehicles in Iraq, a patrol boat in Russia, and a nuclear missile in western China. The United Nations Security Council becomes alarmed and must act.

They discover that a potent nerve agent was used to kidnap the inspectors and, apparently, the material in other countries. Using high-altitude intelligence, they focus their search on an area in the Great Syrian Desert.

William Holden, the Chief of the United Nations Special Commission in Baghdad, receives a photograph and coordinates of a transporter entering a cave. He organizes a select group of his inspectors to make a clandestine foray into the desert.

Holden receives unexpected help from the UN Investigative Agency in the person of alluring redheaded operative Gloria Caruthers. A former agent for British Intelligence, Gloria works for the United Nations Investigative Agency. She plays a critical role in Holden's quest to recover the missing inspectors.

Holden and members of an ancient Bedouin tribe use each other-Holden to avenge his men, and the tribe to repossess its lost heirloom? Tribal member Sabah Al Ahmed, who is also an operative of the Israeli Mossad, wants to use both Holden and the tribe to recover Israel's lost nerve agent and keep it from Israel's enemies.

Gloria's covert return to Bagdad, will have a pivotal role in the outcome.

The Imam of the Cave is the prequel to Gamal's Assassin.

This novel was originally published as Prophecy of the Medallion.

I've always been suspicious that there are many untold tales of adventure and intrigue involving the United Nations inspectors in Iraq, and author J Randall certainly has woven an interesting tale with "The Imam of the Cave". The story is comprised of several viewpoints and the authenticity of the characters brings the story to life. I especially liked the descriptive "local color", as I have never been to Iraq. Tradition, obligation, tribal allegiance and duty from all perspectives are woven into a very interesting read. Well done.

The Imam of the Cave is a suspenseful page turner that will get you entangled in its web of intrigue with its main character, Bill Holden, who is struggling to figure out what has happened to his U.N. Inspectors and why. Be forewarned: This book is a nail biter. I loved the characters, particularly Bill, Bob, and Gloria, and just when you think all is lost, big Bob saves the day - or so you think. The plot and subplots take you out of your comfy reading chair to exotic and dangerous places. The Imam of the Cave gave me a feeling of traveling without all the hassle of the TSA and lost luggage. I highly recommend this read. And what a great price!

I know I'm dating myself; but that's a line from an old Alka-Selzer commercial. In this case it fits.

J. Randall has written a page-turner of a suspense novel set in the Middle East. Without going into the story line or specifics, let me just say that his characters are believable and quickly become real in the mind of the reader. Great dialogue, just enough sex and violence (not gratuitous -- it helps the story along and doesn't distract from what the characters are about), and a plot that sucks you in, twists and turns you around, and doesn't spit you out until the satisfying ending.

I understand he has a couple more titles ready for release. I'm looking forward to checking them out!

Re-read the title of this review -- see if it doesn't work for you.

Looking for a fast paced action thriller?

Then give Josh Randall's The Imam of the Cave a try. I did and really enjoyed it. It's a fast read and page turning thriller about the Middle East with a plot that really hooks the reader. The story focuses on UN Inspectors in Saddam Hussein's Iraq who mysteriously are disappearing. The big man even makes a cameo appearance and shows his brutality. Hanging was too good for him.

Randall weaves an interesting story with lots of local color. Some of the characters are a bit wooden and could have been fleshed out better, but hey, the story is what grabs you.

A solid read and the author has some other titles out that are worth checking.

This is an interesting action packed story which will keep you on the edge of your seat. I like the ample background information provided about the region of the Middle East. It is rich in some of the history of mosques etc. The cast of characters are an unlikely lot who form unusual alliances as well as enemies. I was unable to guess the ending of the novel. I look forward to other novels from this author. It is a refreshing read! Thanks***

Not a very intense book, the story line has some promise but I thought solutions could be made more complicated.
