Présentation de l'éditeur

After years in Boston and a year of working for herself as a contract consultant and adjunct professor, Dr. Anne Conner is ready to return home to work in her field as a marine biochemist and research scientist. With money running low, Anne jumps at the chance to interview for her dream job with the world famous Stanford Enterprises research company.

When she makes the final round of interviews, Anne decides to combine her time in Seattle interviewing with a vacation trip to her family's inn on Orcas Island in the San Juan Islands. The last thing she expected was to run in the object of her teenage dreams, Ben Carlson, who is on the island for his sister's wedding. Nor did she plan on the passion that erupts between them. Is their relationship only a vacation romance as they agreed from the beginning, or will it turn into something more when Anne moves back to Seattle?

Just as Anne begins to hope for more, the unthinkable is revealed. Ben is none other than her new boss. Worse yet is that he thinks that she only used him to get the job!

This is very poorly written, and apparently unedited since there are many typos. The story line is very improbable, and the conversations extremely stilted, so not believable. I gave up after a couple of chapters.

1.0 étoiles sur 5 Wall of Text 8 mai 2013

I would suggest that you try the pre-view before buying. It starts with a wall of text that was actually dialog. I kept reading, thinking that this was going to be humor and turn out to be the world's worst pre-recorded job offer. Nope, it was genuine, spoken dialog. Paragraphs and paragraphs of dialog that are really hard to read.

Holy moly this is bad. The dialogue is ridiculously stilted and unrealistic and the characters are shallow and so forgettable. And of course English is a problem, with things like "he looked into she eyes" and "your going to love it." it's so convenient when you and your fake fiancé BOTH use fake names tht the other doesn't know about. Ugh. And boy does that fake fiancé turn on her when he thinks she lied. From love to hateful rage in 2 seconds

1.0 étoiles sur 5 So many rave reviews? 9 juin 2013
Par Lynda Martin - Publié sur Amazon.com
Format:Format Kindle|Achat vérifié
I downloaded this so-called book based on so many 5 star reviews. I hadn't read beyond the first page when the thought "you've got to be kidding me" hit me like a truck. The more I read, the more I began to wonder at the reading abilities of all those reviewers. The story is trite and the writing worse. Clearly, editing was non-existent. As I am an editor, I feel compelled to address the author:

Dear Ms. Webb,

Please purchase the following and read them before you write another word: Writing: Grammar, Usage and Style; a good Thesaurus and any primer on the basics of story development.

1. Dialogue: people do not make speeches in real life. Rarely does anyone utter more than three sentences at a time and if I should meet someone who speaks with such disjointed volubility as your characters, I would run for the hills.
2. Paragraphs: a new paragraph is required for every change in subject, speaker or point of view. Paragraphs that run for pages are tedious and difficult to read, particularly when they are filled with such unnecessary fluff as these.
3. Tenses: Your story is written in the past tense. Things that happened before that time need to be in the perfect past tense; ergo, all of those endless backstories you felt compelled to add to even the most minor of characters should use perfect past tense. This way the reader has at least a chance of making sense of this jumble of words.
4. Backstory: Too much -- way too much.
5. Plot: A writer needs to pare down to only that which is relevant to the plot and moves the plot forward. There are only two reasons to describe anything: one -- provide context and texture to the plot and two: build character.
6. Word usage: May I suggest you make use of any number of programs that check word usage and repetition in construction so you may avoid passages like the following:

" the pretty-boy, sophisticated, metro-sexual LOOK that some men cultivated but instead LOOKED like a man's man. He LOOKED like he took life on and bent it to his will. He had just the LOOK that never failed to appeal to her.... lips were positively sensuous, LOOKING both hard and soft at the same time. He also LOOKED familiar..."

If I can be of further use as an editor...

This book has too much sex. I don't need to know how they had sex in every other chapter. I got it the first time. Not enough story going on.
