Biographie de l'auteur

Brooks has a passion for health, fitness, and educating others dating back to his childhood. He began swimming competitively when he was six, was ranked 4th in the nation by the time he was ten, and went on to qualify for the Olympic Trials and NCAA’s. He is a graduate of the United States Naval Academy, an entrepreneur, and a National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM) Certified Personal Trainer and Corrective Exercise Specialist (CES). He has a passion and a commitment for educating people on the benefits of living a healthy lifestyle.

Loved this book! Written in an easy-to-read story format, rather than a boring self-help guide format. I could imagine myself in the main character's place as he struggled with learning the "hows" of becoming healthy - it can be confusing, especially if you're new to the world of health and fitness. The author addresses some of the misinformation that's out there about losing weight, and really gives the reader good, basic, helpful information. It will be definitely be added to my list of books I recommend to others, and I will surely be gifting copies in the future.

Are you overweight and rundown all the time? Perhaps you're looking to make a change to your lifestyle, but you don't even really know where to begin with the huge volume of different (and contradictory!) information that you can find out there. You are not interested in 10-day green juice "cleanses" (i.e. fasts), extreme low calorie diets, highly restrictive low-carb diets, or all the crazy exercise programs out there. You want something SANE, and sustainable--not another crash diet or exercise program that is too hard to stick to, but a set of easy habits that require little to no effort to maintain, and offer huge rewards in terms of fat loss and vitality. And maybe on top of that, you're not really into reading dry nonfiction how-to books.

If that sounds like you, this is your book! It is an incredible, inspiring, and entertaining guide to the foundational habits for being healthy and losing weight.

I really enjoyed reading The Lean Life. The story gives people a way to gather healthful tips they can digest in small pieces instead of huge research studies. It's a real problem that people can relate to - Timmy's story. With our society's problem with obesity from food choices to lack of exercise these tips Brooks Hollan gives through his story are great ideas for anyone to implement in their daily lives. Brooks is teaching lifelong habits in an entertaining way through this book. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

This is the perfect book for anyone who says they are ready to lose weight and design a new lifestyle for themselves! Many people fall victim to thinking that it is a lack of willpower that side tracks your weigh loss goals, but I would argue that it is a lack of skills and knowledge about lifestyle and nutrition. This book takes you step by step through the process, but in absolutely relatable terms. This is not weighed down by meaningless jargon. It is a story about the journey to wellness that you can easily follow!

I have enjoyed the reading of the Lean Life. It is simply written for a health/nutrition novice as well as one who may have a little more experience in that area. I really enjoyed the easy to follow analogies regarding the process in which food gets broken down, how the body uses fuel, and how the different macros rely on each other to do the job. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who is looking to lose weight and maintain it the natural way. This is not a diet book, but a book giving you the essentials of the process to get your body into the fat-burning state rather then a fat-storing state. If you were asked to help assist a friend on the weightloss process, this will be a great tutorial to help you explain the healthy way of losing weight in term they may be able to follow without much technicalities. All in all, I feel this was an awesome book and money well spent.

Prior to reading this book I had lost and maintained an 85lb fat loss. Everything in this book is totally correct with the how-tos of burning fat and keeping it off. I purchased this book for the mere reason of others wanting me to help them get on track in changing their habits as well. I like that this book will be of assistance in guiding me in explaining to them through their journey as well.
