Tragic Tale of One of the Most Brilliant Bands of Our Time 2 octobre 2006
Par mroxie - Publié sur Amazon.com
Format: Relié
Chances are, if you are considering buying this book, you already know something about The Libertines' back-story. Pete Doherty's very British, sometimes even folksy poetic style and the contrast of Carl Barat's more edgy, rock-driven style combined to create a songwriting partnership that seemed almost perfect. However, it was apparently not meant to be...The Libertines only came out with two albums (aside from assorted demos released on the Internet).

The authors are Anthony Thorton, former NME editor and the first person to interview them after Doherty got out of jail, and Roger Sargent, photographer. "The Libertines: Bound Together is filled with over 100 pictures (most of them were previously unpublished), interview dialogue, and chronicles their story from the beginning through their break-up: when Pete and Carl first met, the formation of the band, getting signed, touring, the first and second albums, the conflict between Pete and Carl, what caused the band's demise, and finally the formation of Pete Doherty's new band Babyshambles and Carl Barat's band Dirty Pretty Things.

Though short-lived, they have left an incredible legacy behind, with legions of devoted fans and (most importantly) remarkably good music.

Best thing I've ever bought, beyond gasoline and birth control. 13 novembre 2007

This book is everything I thought it would be. It's smaller than I expected, but such quality. It's the ultimate source of the Libertines, if you're already familiar with them, and it gives you an in-the-know perspective. The pictures are intensely defined, and I've never seen many of them before in my five-year fanship of the libs.

The best part is, now I have an ultimate reference to submit to a tattoo artist!

What Became of the Likely Lads? 13 décembre 2007
Par Bradley P. Dunn - Publié sur Amazon.com
Format: Relié
This is truly the essential book chronicling the triumphant and tumultuous few years of the short lived legendary British rock band The Libertines. It beautifully documents the lives, loves, highs and lows of bandmates Carl Barat and Pete Doherty. Author Anthony Thornton (writer for the NME) and photographer Roger Sargent were allowed intimate access into their tempestuous lives. There are many rare and wonderful photographs which capture the grime, grit, and glory. We follow them through their first meeting until their bitter end. The major focus is on tabloid icon Pete Doherty as he battles drug addiction, fame, and public scrutiny. This book leaves you with a better understanding of the burgeoning icon and his art.
Very basic story of the band 29 novembre 2010

If you're not looking for something extremely in-depth, want just a good overview of the band, and enjoy looking at a lot of pretty pictures, this book is for you. You're not going to find deep details about Carl and Peter's psychological makeup, or any real details about the other members of the band, but you will get a good idea about the brief power and popularity of a shining star that dimmed too soon.
A must have for any Libertines fan 23 octobre 2012

This book is awesome, it describes the history of the band since the early days, many stories told about Pete and Carl, awesome pictures, very easy reading. No better sentence to describe it than stating it's a must have for any Libs fan.
