Book Description
This scholarly yet highly readable volume offers a concise introduction to the tenets of Buddhism. A brief biography of the Enlightened One and an overview of his doctrine is followed by a series of Pali texts, attributed to Buddha himself. Rich in parables and thought-provoking observations, the texts are thematically organized around the founder and his prophesies, training in Buddhist thought and conduct, and the transcendent state achieved through obedience to dharma, the cosmic order.
