Je partage entièrement l'avis de Jean Agnelard. C'est un livre d'une richesse scientifique et historique extraordinaire. Vu, également, la recherche ainsi que la qualité de son style, il est laborieux à lire pour une personne, qui comme moi,qui ne maîtrise l'anglais qu'en tant que langue "technique et véhiculaire".

Dommage car ce livre, traduit en français, rencontrerait un succès très large et bien mérité.

Excellent livre, fouillé, vivant, documenté, scientifiquement pertinent, sociologiquement intelligent. Une honte qu'il ne soit pas traduit en Français ! Et après on s'étonne que les "jeunes" ne soient pas passionnés par les métiers scientifiques...

Starting with the personalities and ideas surrounding the discovery of radioactivity at the start of this century, it follows the evolution of ideas, theory, personalities and politics towards the realisation of atomic and hydrogen bombs. Despite its formidable thickness, it is difficult to put down once embarked upon.
