HASH(0x98e3e8d8) étoiles sur 5 Not a bad collection 29 novembre 2008
Par A Fan - Publié sur Amazon.com

Released in 1972, this is a budget collection of previously recorded songs from Elvis' movies. It was a minor hit reaching number 87 on the Billboard album chart and was eventually certified PLATINUM by the RIAA. It includes several songs that had made the singles chart in the US including: They Remind Me Too Much Of You (peaked at number 53 in 1963), Frankie And Johnny (number 25 in 1966), Guitar Man (43 in 1968), Long Legged Girl (63 in 1967), You Don't Know Me (44 in 1967), and Big Boss Man (38 in 1967).

This CD is as good as The LP that I first bought. I still own the LP. I hear a lot of bad reveiws over the years on these Camden releases. I was in jr. high when I bought this LP. It was the first time I heard many of these songs. That goes for a lot of those RCA Camden releases. I couldn't buy the soundtracks because they were deleted. So this was new music to me. I think all of them went gold and platium. So this should tell you something. I would buy this set if your a true Elvis fan or if your just starting out finding out who Elvis was. I hope RCA releases the gold LP C'mon Everybody on the RCA Camden label. It's the only one I need. Rock on Elvis. We love you and miss you.;

HASH(0x95bbf84c) étoiles sur 5 Some Good Songs But Serves Little Purpose 30 octobre 2011
Par Anton Karidian - Publié sur Amazon.com

When ELVIS SINGS HITS FROM HIS MOVIES VOLUME 1 first appeared as an LP in 1972, it at least served the purpose of giving his fans some fine songs like "Guitar Man" and "Big Boss Man" that had appeared as singles but were hard to get ahold of on LPs. And those 2 songs were not even from his movies at all! But now that there are much better compilations of Elvis's music available, there's just not much purpose in this album any more. If you want to get a good sample of his movie songs, Elvis at the Movies (Dig) is a far better deal that you can get used for just a little bit more money than this CD, and ELVIS AT THE MOVIES has got about 30 songs, while this one has just 10. The quality of most songs here is fairly good, although they're certainly not a good representation of the best of his movie songs, while "Old MacDonald" is the only one of the 10 that I'd say is truly terrible. Having said all that, I finally bought ELVIS SINGS HITS FROM THE MOVIES VOLUME 1 about 2 years ago because I've got almost everything Elvis recorded except some bad movie soundtracks, but I didn't have the songs "Frankie and Johnny" and "Long Legged Girl," and this was the cheapest way for me to get them. So I guess to some extent I'll have to eat my words and admit that this CD does serve SOME purpose. But really, if you're wanting some of Elvis's best movie songs, get the quite good sampler Elvis at the Movies (Dig), or complete soundtracks from some of his films, such as King Creole (1958 Film), Jailhouse Rock & Love Me Tender, Loving You, Blue Hawaii, and Viva Las Vegas [Soundtrack]. Once you get those, the combo CDs Flaming Star & Wild in Country & Follow That Dream and Live a Little, Love a Little & Charro! & The Trouble With Girls & Change of Habit also have some good songs from his 60s films on them.
