I recently listened to Kelly's Audio CDs for the Neuroscience of Change and I really enjoyed the concepts, ideas, and stories presented throughout the 6 CDs. Whether you are dealing with a mood/anxiety disorder or you want the best chance you can get to making changes to your life, these CDs have a ton of stories, research data, and wisdom to help you on your way.

Dr McGonigal extracts the most valuable and beautiful teachings from the "wisdom traditions" and enriches them with the precise and very reliable information and modern evidence of the neuroscience investigation in order to understand the difficulties of our human minds, our brains and our unconscious responses and the suffering they bring us. She explains also how our suffering can be diminished by this understanding and the awareness this knowledge brings. After listening to her words many times I am aware now of many things I wasn't before and of course I feel more calm with the knowledge that this is how everyone is "built". Dr McGonigal explains in detail, but just insofar as needed, the "default human mode" which causes lots of suffering and she gives us the way out of it by guiding us to being in the "experiencing self" . This is really helpful ! She talks about our old bad habits and how to be able to replace them with new good ones aligned with our values and goals . Self criticism self vs the self accountability is also a very useful differentiation. The audiobook has also very good guided meditations that are tools for the implementation of the teachings.
Maybe because this is an audiobook and not a written book many people do not know this wonderful and very helpful information so, I hope that she could also write a book with her very simple way of explaining things about this same subjects : diminishing suffering, understanding human nature and having compassion with others and with our own selves . What could be more important in life? Her book "The will power instinct", understanding desires dopamine etc etc...is also very good . I wonder if perhaps the physiology of the "default human mode" has something to do with the physiology of desire explained in that book. Thanks Dr McGonigal your teachings have helped me a lot!

I rarely rate ANYthing 5 stars, because in my view, there's almost always room for improvement. So, this reflects an exceptional product. I am listening over and over and over again to try to get it to sink in to my old brain and heart and soul. Worth every penny of the investment. If you have tried to change in the past, and who hasn't, this will help you understand why you likely failed to stick with the original goal, and how you can use the power of the brain's habit development mechanism to make change stick. It also helps lots with how to be compassionate with yourself when you fall short of expectations. There's so much more, but if I get going, I'll summarize every CD of the program. If you are even remotely thinking about this, do yourself a huge favor, and just BUY it...then use it.

I have *never* been able to sustain a meditation practice prior to utilizing this audio CD set. Contains practical help and deep wisdom.

I bought this last year and have gone back to the visualizations and meditations often since initially listening to the book. The audio meditations are amazing for keeping with a daily practice.
