About the author
C.F. Tunnicliffe was born in Cheshire, England in 1901. He became one of England's most famous and successful book illustrators whose work included such classics as Tarka the Otter and The Old Man and the Sea. In addition to his work as an illustrator, Tunnicliffe is now recognized as one of the world's finest bird artists, although few of his bird sketches saw the light of day until after his death in 1979.
