A Good Training in Pranic Breathing 4 août 2011
Par William Bagley - Publié sur Amazon.com
Format: Broché Commentaire client Vine pour produit gratuit ( De quoi s'agit-il? )
I have been doing breath oriented meditation for over 30 years and am impressed with this book. It has a kind of Taoist model of the subtle energy body, but integrates insights from the Buddhist model and the Kundalini Yoga model. The 11 chakra model follows the "microcosmic orbit" and those have been trained in this model will find a lot of the groundwork that the author covers to be familiar. Exercise 3.4, curiously, is one I found in a Sufi book and is called the "mother breath", but is referenced differently in this book. In a review, I usually like to summarize the contents of a book to some extent. This book is difficult to summarize, mainly because it is already a well organized summary of pranic breathing already. The information is condensed and each page has something to offer. The book is mercifully sparing about theory, but is really more of a system of exercises that allows you to learn by doing them. The book goes into a lot of interconnected subjects like visualizing and breathing colors, and how to use bath salts to help cleanse the subtle body (like epsom salts). The book has pictures to help one understand how to do the chi gong practices that are built around breathing. It seems that the last chapter of the book is a summary of a training program that the author is offering. The training looks okay from the summary, but it is beyond my experience how to evaluate it from just the book. I did notice a lot of familiar elements from my other books on meditation and breathing. I think that people who have read a lot of books on breathing meditation will find a lot of the book to be familiar, plus probably find a few good nuggets that will add to what they already understand. For those who have not had any experience with pranic breathing, the book has enough solid material to be a useful start. There is something of an omission in this book for me. I have found a lot of value in Rebirthing breathing, or "conscious connected breathing", and Vivation Breathing (a variation of Rebirthing that focuses on emotional integration), but this method is not covered in the book. Rebirthing breathing is similar to the Taoist infant breath. What I like about Rebirthing breathing is that it is easier to practice this kind of breathing in your life, through all your experiences, as it is a natural pattern of breathing that you are relearning. Some of the breathing techniques are ones that you can only do at special times you set aside for practice. I like the "nine energizing breaths" process that the author does outline. It is his distillation of a lot of methods from ancient tradition into a very workable and memorizable framework.

will give you tremendous energy 1 septembre 2011

I am the co-author of this book, and wanted to add a few points to the otherwise excellent reviews that have already been posted by folks who are clearly knowledgable in this field.

First of all, I personally had chronic fatigue syndrome for many years, and was severely run-down. Those of you who have this understand how it can affect your work and your relationships. When I'd try to exercise it would only make me sicker because I was so depleted. As is typical in the medical field, your doctor can do tests to rule out illnesses like diabetes, anemia, depression, and hypothyroidism, but once they've been ruled out, he/she can do very little as far as telling you how to increase your energy levels. So I was personally on a desperate search for ways to increase my own personal energy level and that's what lead me to find Master Stephen Co and to learn these exercises from him. The exercises in this book are RARE and UNIQUE in the sense that they require minimal exertion and will recharge your batteries even if you are totally run-down and depleted. And the energy that you get from them lasts all day; its not like drinking a cup of coffee and getting a buzz for only a few hours.

Second, while you may have seen several of these exercises before from a variety of different schools, as far as I know, many of them are unique and they were put together in a specific sequence by the founder of the Institute of Mentalphysics. The original Mentalphysics exercises were awesome, but required close to an hour to do a full set. My own teacher, Grandmaster Choa Kok Sui modified these exercises slightly, allowing a person to get equal or more benefit by doing many less repetitions in a fraction of the time. I can do the full set in 10 minutes.

A third comment involves some more esoteric aspects of the exercises. One secret to how these work is that they "physicalize spiritual energy." I know many folks who are very spiritual, meditate a lot, do healings on other people, and yet themselves are completely sickly and exhausted. These will help, especially when combined with some of the other "energetic hygiene" practices that we recommend in the book. Also, I would strongly recommend doing the Meditation on Twin Hearts that is taught in the book. It is extremely powerful, will supercharge your body (and chakras), and will change your personality for the better. If you do this meditation and then follow it with the Mentalphysics exercises, and keep at it for several months, you will not even recognize yourself or your old life. These exercises also help to balance creative and sexual energy. If your sexual energy/libido is low, they will increase it (take it from me, I'm a urologist!!). If the libido is too high, some of the energy will be transmuted to more of a creative type of energy.

Hope this helps. Buy the book, you'll LOVE it.

It Works, and Love It 9 août 2011

I am experienced with alternative forms of healing or the dispersion of energy, which is why I was curious to try the exercises and methods contained in the book. Let me just say because of my experience I was really not interested in the jargon or mumbo jumbo about what causes stress, headaches, or lack of energy. I was more interested in getting down to business and trying out the exercises. If your new to the material or this way of life then yes I would suggest you read through the chapters and explanations before getting to the exercises and techniques. There are tons of advice and suggestions on diet, drink, stress, and overall well-being, but there are tons of books out there that offer similar information. What is of invaluable resource in my opinion is the breathing techniques. The first technique in the series I am familiar with as it was prescribed by Deepak Chopra and Dr. Oz, however they did not elaborate or go into the "right" or better way to do the exercise to begin to generate all that energy we crave. There are a series of breathing exercises that can be done individually or ideally in the series. When I tell you get ready for a rush, a nice calm rush I mean get ready. There are brief explanations of how to do each exercise along with visuals. There are also listings of the benefits of each breathing technique and the areas of the body that they stimulate from the brain, to the sex organs. I'm telling you this is one of the best books on breathing and energy that I have and I cannot get enough of the techniques.

Im sailing on the infinite boundless source of energy. You can too!

Greatest Increase in Energy Experianced! 28 août 2011
Par Orlowskinmd - Publié sur Amazon.com
Format: Broché Achat vérifié
I am a Naturopathic Physician and Acupuncturist with a previous history of Chronic Fatigue. Over the years I have studied and experimented with many supplements, exercises and techniques to increase energy and to understand where energy is lost from the body. I have worked with hundreds of people who complain of low energy. The principals and exercises in this book have created the greatest increase in energy that I have ever experianced. The book is clearly outlined, well written and easy to follow. There is a surprising level of deep spiritual and metaphysical truth included in this book. I highly recommend this book to my patients and to anyone that wants to increase their energy level. As an added bonus, I have seen people obtain other health benifits following these teachings including less anxiety, better sleep and less depression.

This is a great book, and it is VERY readable! It has a blending of yoga and Chinese philosophy. I love the idea of the breathing and the qi gong being so good for your health, and can't wait to try his exercises out. I was very disappointed though, that his Twin Heart meditation can't be done by people with high blood pressure, as it sounds like it would be great! (But on the other hand, it's really good that he's so thorough about things like that!) I really like the combining of philosophies and the simplicity of everything in this book.

Many of the breathing exercises were familiar as they sounded very much like the ones given by Yogi Ramacharaka in The Science of Breath (1904).

Was very impressed by this book, and am going to buy several copies to give to family members. Also have ordered a book by his Master, Choa Kok Sui, as he sounds like he also has a lot to offer. GREAT book; I'm glad that I found this one!
