Présentation de l'éditeur

This is the destiny of those who stand for others.

Their honour will be bought in blood and pain.

The Camp Ryder Hub is broken. Captain Lee Harden is nowhere to be found, and his allies are scattered across the state, each of them learning that their missions will not be as easy as they thought. Inside the walls of Camp Ryder, a silent war is brewing between those few that still support Lee's vision of rebuilding and the majority who support Jerry's desire for isolation. But this war will not remain silent for long. And in this savage world, everyone will have to make a choice.

This is the fourth book in the bestselling Remaining series, telling a gritty tale of survival, perseverance and the fight to get back what has been lost.

This series keeps getting better and better. I've been waiting for book 4 of The Remaining series to come out for months now. I loved the first three so much that I recommended them to everyone, and this one didn't disappoint. I slammed through this book, reading it all in less than 12 hours. Mollies is amazing with this series and I can't wait to read what he has in store for the next book.

This one centered a little more on the outlying characters and their missions instead of Lee. I thought that brought a great balance to the book. They all had their fair share of personal struggles. Lee's story was hard to read. The strong "hero" of the first three books, while still great and able to do what he needs to do to survive, is caught in a string of crappy situations. While I was saddened by the things he faced, it was good to see that Molles took a different approach that other authors have. Usually, you have the guy who doesn't get hurt and who helps everyone else, but Lee's situations brought him down to "normal people" level, while other characters stepped up into that "hero" role. It was amazing.

A fantastic addition to The Remaining series. I cannot wait until the 5th book.

5.0 étoiles sur 5 How can one series just keep getting better and better.... 30 juin 2013

'Cause that's not what usually happens. So many novel series start off well, and then they start a slow descent into mediocrity. Not so with this series - it is a cracker right from the get go.

I read the first three novels in quick succession - and thoroughly enjoyed them all. Then there was a break. I had been to see the movie World War Z and left that particular movie thinking 'hmm maybe I am over this whole end of days, zombie thing'. How wrong I was. I saw that Fractured had just been released - curosity got the better of me and I did the whole 'take a peek' thing. Truth be told I then reread the last few pages of the third book to refresh my memory. The memories came flooding back.

What you need to know about Fractured. It is great! Yes it has Zombies and they have an important role in the story - but they are not the whole story. I liken it to a tale about surviving in the wilderness - the risk of animal attack is all too real - but they are a back drop to the main story, survival. Fractured is full of real life people - with real life strengths, frailties, reactions and motives. There is action a plenty. Nothing comes easy ( and nor should it) and the struggles and battles seem very real-life. The story is at its very best when it focusses on Lee ( and Deuce or course). Lee is a multifaceted and very likeable main character.

The book is also well edited - a rarity in the world of self published novels.

If you are new to The Remaining series - you are in for a great ride. You may as well buy all four novels at once 'cause I guarantee you won't stop at one. If you have already read the first three - don't hesitate - jump into episode four.

My faith in zombie and TEOTWAWKI stories has been restored.

Let me start by saying I love this series, I think it's an amazing concept. All the characters are real and deep, but I feel this one just got bogged down. I understand the author wanted to really explore the concept of PTSD and the degradation of ones humanity but I feel it was too late in the series to focus one whole book on it. I mean why did every single character have to go through their own self reflection on the loss of who they were? We get it you're trying to make a point but you cant keep forcing it on us in every scene. For the first time in the series i found myself skipping large sections of pages because it got so repetitive. The series had progressed so well but it just got sidetracked on this concept this time around, and failed to make any real progress. The author seemed to realize this at the end and threw some stuff together to move the story along. I really hope the final book focuses on the wonderful story and world the author has created, I understand he wants to explore some deep topics but save it for a new series don't ruin this one on overreaching and overcomplicating it. Can't wait for the next one did not like this one all the others in the series are 5 stars hopefully the finale will be too!

5.0 étoiles sur 5 Best installment yet! 1 juillet 2013

DJ Molles has written a very thought-provoking episode of his post-apocalypse thriller. More than earlier books he has focused in on the effects of sustained combat on the individual, a lesson doubtless reflecting the experience of our warriors in sustained and repeated deployments to combat zones in Afghanistan and Iraq. Molles forces you to confront the issues of fractured psyches of the war fighters. How can an ordinary person retain morals and ethics of civilized society when confronted constantly with violent and sudden death from around the next corner? And how do the people being protected react to the violence? The folks of Camp Ryder are the neighbors back home, horrified and disbelieving.

This series continues to improve with each installment. The plot progression and twists move along at a swift pace. Even so, I remain hopeful that certain characters are not what they now seem, and an opportunity for redemption will be at hand. The problem is, Molles reminds us, all the best intentions in the world are for nothing if you open a door and a band of infected are there to eat you, and your mag has run dry. Only Lee will get out of that one.

Best of the series so far. Pretty much read through the night until I finished and very enjoyable. I liked how several story lines we're concluded with more to go. The very end was particularly satisfying as I was afraid it would take a whole another book to resolve that issue. Good job.
