I read a lot of self help books, and this one is mediocre at best. It goes over 16 tips to improve your life, and those tips are essentially the same ones spouted in every other self help book. This book stands out differently in that it reads like a dictionary -- informative, but boring with no emotion. That said, it still makes for a very easy and quick read; I finished it in a couple hours, and I can't imagine it took the author much longer than that to type it.

I would give it four stars, but had to remove one for constantly promoting his publisher's products. I could have went to the Inspire3 product page if I wanted to read a brochure. For example, the author recommends Brain Ev, but it seems very suspicious to me, so I have to assume the recommendation stems from the $150 affiliate commission Inspire offers on every sale.

Overall, boring book, but it's quick to read and informative unless you've ever read any other self help book. Honestly, it feels more like two stars, but I can't think of a good reason, so I'll give it three.

I've been trying to improve how I live my life and how I feel about myself ever since I lost my job recently. This event really put things in perspective for me and made me come to the realization that I haven't been enjoying my life up until I was laid off because I put too much importance on meaningless things. I also realized that I wasn't happy with the person I was and I needed a change for the better. Unfortunately, improving yourself and your lifestyle is a difficult path to take alone. This book helped guide me to reaching my goal of self-improvement. The author details 16 steps that will help you break free of the bonds that prevent you from reaching true happiness. There are many excuses that we tell ourselves that prevent us from being truly happy and this book helps you move past them. The author even goes beyond these 16 steps and includes other useful information like foods that help improve your mindset and a section of inspirational quotes to help you in your quest for self-improvement. I highly recommend this book to anyone who wants to feel genuinely happy with their lives and the person they are. A+

Didn't expect anything new and to tell the truth there were a lot of ideas I had heard before. What I liked about this book was the presentation. The author was succinct, direct, didn't waste my time and best of all, I felt better after reading this. I will be re-reading this many times. Thank you for making this available on Kindle!

As others have pointed out, advice like "Be happy!" and "Stop self pity!" are all very well, but without practical advice or suggestions as to how to get out of those ruts, this book is all but useless.

Anyone who's in a really bad place or suffering from depression, when told "Be happy!" is likely to just feel guilty because it's blimmin' impossible to "snap out of it", and this whole book could be summarised as "Snap out of it, stop worrying, be happy!"

If you're a basically happy person who wants some rather shallow little phrases to pep you up, this is likely just the ticket. Otherwise, you can find more information and more actual help for free just by googling "self help tips".

5.0 étoiles sur 5 The best book on self developemnt I have read in a long time! 21 juin 2011

I don"t want to give away any spoilers, because this is a fantastic book full of high quality lessons that any of us can introduce into our life, and reap fantastic results from! The author states that the time has come to stop seeking and start finding. This is a great idea that more self development authors should take a good look at. While being a seeker is a highly respectable and extremely valuable attribute, it does create a feeling of rootlessness and a tendency to lose oneself. This book is a new beginning. It opens new vistas and reinforces older ideas. It helped me to find myself. To become more clear about what is my belief system and how does it limit me and my experiences. Especially considering how such a belief system might have come into being, under what influences, whether internal or external.

And this is the main value of the book in my eyes: the ability to free us from our own self-imposed self-concepts. And this is no small feat because as we all know the most dangerous cage is a gilded one. Gilded with self-righteousness in this case, gilded with the desire or even need to be right, gilded with the desire to justify our actions and the actions of those close to us.

This book is superbly well written. It is not academic, it is easy to access and easy to read, but of course filled with powerful truths. But the truths are not there to beat you over the head with complex sounding terms. They are explained with simple words and this ease of expression makes the book powerful and ready for a huge audience. I think it deserves all the attention that it gets. I for one highly recommend this book to everyone!
