Let The True Secret Be Known 9 septembre 2007
Par Dave Carpenter - Publié sur Amazon.com
Format: Relié
In a world of junk science, hype and advocacy/journalism, Karen Kelly's book is a delightful exploration of the phenomena of the multi-media shooting star, The Secret.

I give The Secret full credit for being a brilliantly marketed concept. I also believe that something that gets the masses thinking about their own development serves a useful purpose. But, I felt that the DVD, especially, did not strike the right balance between "manifesting" and swinging into action. And, I felt that some of the claims frequently over-reached in the interest of making a product/message that was attractive to the masses.

With that bias before reading this book, I was an easy mark for the author's very analytical and well researched inquiry into many of the claims of The Secret. What impressed me most was that Ms. Kelly did so without resorting to a muckraking style. Her writing is very balanced and seemingly very, very well researched.

Beyond learning the apparent truth about matters involving The Secret, I thoroughly enjoyed the author's explanation of some of the roots of the self-help movement and her analysis of the more recent claims with regard to quantum physics.

Now, if only a fraction of those who have viewed or read "The Secret" would read this book, Ms. Kelly would have raised the intelligence and consciousness of many. Regretfully, I don't see that as likely happening. In the instant gratification world in which we live, this book doesn't provide any hope of magic pills. As such, the road to best seller will be challenging. Ms. Kelly, I - for one - will be rooting for you and your book. This is one very fine effort.

A Fascinating Quest for the Truth about "The Secret" 14 août 2007
Par Bonnie Bauman - Publié sur Amazon.com
Format: Relié
Like most people in this country, I was intrigued by "The Secret." After reading The Secret and taking note of the publicity that it generated, I was left with many unanswered questions. Mainly I was curious about why "The Secret" had such a huge impact on so many people in this country. Not only did this book answer my questions, it took me on a journey full of suspense and fascinating revelations. I couldn't put it down! One of the best things about the book is that Ms. Kelly tells her tale with complete objectivity. It's obvious that she isn't trying to blow the lid off "The Secret" or in any way defend it. It was refreshing to read such an unbiased and balanced explanation. On top of all that, this book is extremely well written. Ms. Kelly shares her discoveries with intelligence, wit and humor. I recommend this book not only to folks who are interested in "The Secret," but to anyone who is looking for an exceptional read.

Extremely Well Done! 28 août 2007
Par Tom Morris - Publié sur Amazon.com

This is a fair minded, judicious, well balanced and penetrating assessment of the phenomenal bestseller "The Secret." It amazes me that Karen Kelly could produce such a thoroughly researched and well thought through critique in such a short amount of time. This is something that all fans of "The Secret" should read. And anyone who wonders what all the hoopla is about will have their questions answered in this fine piece of investigative journalism. Karen Kelly has done her homework, and is able to explain the success of Rhonda Byrne's project by putting it into historical perspective and analyzing all the marketing ploys that came together to get this project its widespread attention.

Kelly's book advances the conversation about recent approaches to life success and happiness. She is an astute thinker, and will help all her readers grasp more deeply what is going on across America as a new wave of gurus bring their audiences some remarkable claims about the world in which we live.

I found this book impossible to put down, and had finished reading it within hours of opening its front cover.

It's a fascinating and enlightening read.

If you love The Secret... 22 août 2007

... don't worry: you can still read this. If you found The Secret DVD uplifting and euphoria-inducing - but felt it was a little too good to be true - then this book can help you balance your enthusiasm with some practical insights and facts. That doesn't mean stop feeling good! The Secret of the Secret just puts the so-called power of positive thinking in perspective, gives it a historical context, and lets you think for yourself. Very refreshing - and a great companion book to The Secret!

Completely Fascinating and Realistic 20 août 2009

"We are not creatures of circumstance, we are creators." ~ Sarah J. Farmer

I think we can all agree that everything we create in the world begins with a thought. Isn't that how God created the universe in the first place? I've always wondered how long God thought about the world before he created it. If he had "only" thought about it would it exist? The fact is that it wouldn't. At some point God seems to have decided to put his thoughts into action. In our world today it also seems that some action is required to make money. After all, every website you see was once just a thought. From my own experience I can say that building a website also takes a great deal of work. This book reveals what it missing from "The Secret." Mainly that action IS required.

If you have read "The Secret" then this book will be completely fascinating although Karen Kelly has a much more realistic view of life. She goes as far as to tell the reader to "tear up your affirmations." I think this is not the best advice since affirmations give you the confidence to make your dreams a reality.

While this book is even more interesting than "The Secret" it does divulge some controversial information. This is especially true when discussing quantum physics and how it relates to consciousness.

What I liked most about this book is how Karen Kelly examines the phenomenon of "The Secret" and also presents her own research about those who were quoted in the book. To say this book was well researched is an understatement. I loved how Karen Kelly traced the ideas in "The Secret" to their roots.

It seems in life we can decide to live in poverty, survive fairly well or attain incredible wealth. I'm personally not sure we should want wealth just for selfish reasons. It does however seem fine to want wealth so we can be a good influence or help people in need. I think we have to remember that the "love" of money is the root of evil. From what I have read it is not evil to possess great wealth. If you read about the life of Mother Teresa (who lived in poverty all her life), even she drew great wealth to herself (in the form of donations from all over the world) and helped hundreds of thousands of people. She didn't use the money for herself but instead basically gave it all to the poor. So I think there is a lesson to be learned from her life.

One of the hurdles I found with "The Secret" is that I didn't think I deserved to make a lot of money. I also didn't have any good ideas on how to make more money until after I started to read books by Napoleon Hill. While reading his books I received an idea that could make me money. So if you are going to read books like "The Secret" also read books that can actually make your dreams a reality. Perhaps this book will show you what is missing from "The Secret." In the end, the law of attraction seems to work for the person who also takes action.
