Présentation de l'éditeur

From the internationally bestselling authors who brought you the Krinar Chronicles comes a captivating tale of intrigue, love, and danger in a world where sorcery is entwined with science . . .

Once a respected member of the Sorcerer Council and now an outcast, Blaise has spent the last year of his life working on a special magical object. The goal is to allow anyone to do magic, not just the sorcerer elite. The outcome of his quest is unlike anything he could’ve ever imagined – because, instead of an object, he creates Her.

She is Gala, and she is anything but inanimate. Born in the Spell Realm, she is beautiful and highly intelligent – and nobody knows what she’s capable of. She will do anything to experience the world . . . even leave the man she is beginning to fall for.

Augusta, a powerful sorceress and Blaise’s former fiancée, sees Blaise’s deed as the ultimate hubris and Gala as an abomination that must be destroyed. In her quest to save the human race, Augusta will forge new alliances, becoming tangled in a web of intrigue that stretches further than any of them suspect. She may even have to turn to her new lover Barson, a ruthless warrior who might have an agenda of his own . . .

No sorcery to dislike this book. There are some good fantasy ideas but for the rest it remains quite predictable. You won 't have the ending also, have to continue reading the series.

A must read for fantasy lovers ..... 17 janvier 2014
Par Jason - Publié sur
I would listen to The Sorcery Code again for sure because of the way it is narrated by Emily Durante. The narration pulled me into the story and apart from narration the character of Blaise is just very unique.

The best thing I like about this story is how Blaise wants to make magic more available for the common people and break the barrier between common people and sorcerers. Also the flow of story pulls you in and keeps you interested.
I really like how the story starts with Blaise and his creation Gala and then more characters Augusta (Blaise’s ex-fiancé) and Barson (Augusta’s lover) come into the story and provide a punch. The character of Augusta and Barson is very strong and noteworthy. Other important aspect of this book was how the story switches between all these characters and how all of them grow out.
I really want to see more of Augusta as she is my favorite character in the book and I just cannot have enough of her. I think this is a wonderful start to a series with beautiful and powerful characters and interesting story line I am just waiting for the next part to come out and see how the characters and story shapes. If you are looking forward to have a good book go for this you won’t regret it.

A terrible, terrible book. 18 mai 2014

If you have ever done any programming, you will recognize the book's premise for magic as a clumsy and painful metaphor for coding. The prose is stilted and awkward; the characters are not in the least believable and indulge in ridiculous dialog.

The book reads like it was written by a 15-year-old boy who wishes he was attractive and that a pretty girl would drop out of the sky and be instantly smitten with him.

I really can't say enough bad things about this book. If you are at all picky about your reading, steer clear of this one.

Thoroughly enjoyed! 23 mars 2014
Par Mrs - Publié sur
I truly enjoyed listening to this book which captures the imagination of the reader throughout. The book follows the perspectives of four different characters (being as Blaise, Gala, Augusta and Barson) which make the audience understand the importance of the relationships between the characters. The imagery and description in this book is amazing. This is more predominant during the start of the novel when Blaise first creates Gala. Before listening to this book I wasn't a huge fan of fantasy novels however after listening to the book, I will definitely consider reading more in the future. Although the novel doesn't end on a cliff hanger, it certainly makes you want to read the next volume in the series.

The narrator (Emily Durante) really grabs the reader's attention and personally made the novel a lot more interesting and enjoyable. She has a very soft voice and makes it clear when a different character is speaking by using clear intonation.

Overall, if you are looking for an enjoyable book which will entertain you for hours, then The Sorcery Code is the book for you.

Not Much to Be Said 1 mars 2014

The high reviews on Amazon led me to purchase The Sorcery Code. Other editorial commentators promised a novel with strong world-building characteristics, a dynamic plot, and a story that defies clichés. Imagine then to my intense surprise to find a novel that embodied none of those things.
In short, this book is riddled with banality. Once cannot help but think that its author read the Twilight series one too many times and then decided to forge her own market-driven piece of drivel.
Our heroine, Gala, is absolutely the most beautiful thing in the world. From her creation she's charged with an intense (although not explicitly referenced) libido. Oh, and did I mention that she's just so heart-breakingly innocent--she heals lions, it's cute. Will she hook up with Blaise (who is also incredibly handsome)? Will she discover how to use her god-like, hidden powers and use them to help the lives of poor poor peasant families? Who could care?
Save your money, buy something else.

I can't wait for Volume 2 already! 25 janvier 2014

The Sorcery Code: Volume 1
Review by James (British expat) Manila, Philippines

Let me just start by saying that this book is fantastic! If you like fantasy and/or science fiction novels, then you are going to love The Sorcery Code. In fact, the enigmatic realm of magic, intrigue and mystery will have you captivated throughout your enchanted journey.

Would you listen to The Sorcery Code: Volume 1 again? Why?

Absolutely! But I think next time I want to read the actual book for myself instead of an audio version. That doesn’t mean to say the audible offering wasn’t good – far from it! However, I’d much rather listen to the Sorcery Code: Volume 2 and will do so as soon as it’s available; that’s for sure!

What did you like best about this story?

I liked the intricate webs that were spun throughout the story and the way the main characters interacted with each other, often in such devious ways. The book does a particularly clever job of utilising flashbacks to create powerful imagery and enthral the reader.

What about Emily Durante's performance did you like?

Emily Durante has an amazingly soothing voice. This made the listening experience all the more interactive for me, as I felt like I was listening to the calming voice of an aunt reading me the story. Her change of voice/tone for different characters was also extremely apt and made the experience all the more realistic.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Even though I was emotionally-gripped throughout, I can’t say that this book made me cry. I laughed numerous times especially at how Blaise acts towards Gala at the start of the book, before their relationship has had time to mature.

Any additional comments?

I’m still trying to decide if Blaise or Barson is my favourite character. Blaise is the obvious choice and his Robin Hood-esque qualities make him a great character, but he is somewhat of an antihero. Barson, on the other hand is the epitome of strength and honour on the face of things; although not so much the latter when you delve deeper.
