Soup Sisters are a Calgary-based non-profit enterprise founded in 2009. They are dedicated to making a tangible difference to the lives of women and children in need. Soup Sisters believe in the power of soup and the nutrition, comfort and warmth that the gift of soup can bring. This belief has resonated quickly and profoundly with communities across Canada, who come together through their local Soup Sisters events to cook, share and donate soup, to women's shelters in their community. The Soup Sisters' growing network has over 4,500 supporters, who collectively donate over 8,000 bowls of soup every month--over 75,000 bowls of soup have been donated to date.

5.0 étoiles sur 5 Warmed us up! 4 novembre 2012
Par Allison - Publié sur Amazon.com

This book is filled with wonderful recipes and tips (like how to easily cut up a butternut squash!). I liked how it was organized by season. It's also easy to scan and find something to make with ingredients I have at home. My mom bought this book for both me and my sister and gave it to us at Thanksgiving. We have so much to be thankful for, and the soup sister cause (donating soup to women's shelters) is one worth supporting. Buy this book - enjoy the soups with your family, and support a worthwhile cause.

This is not just a delicious cookbook of nourishing and stylish seasonal soups but an important fundraiser for domestic abuse shelters across Canada. Buying this book puts much needed money into one of the most creative and caring fundraisers I've ever encountered. Noone is asking for a handout. Its about caring people looking out for those who themselves in a difficult times. This book reaffirms the message that violence doesn't have to exist but that caring always should.
Cooks will definitely find a few recipes they'll love but everyone who buys it will be sending a message of caring.
Soups on!

5.0 étoiles sur 5 You'll Want to Start Making Soup Right Now! 18 octobre 2012
Par Carolyn - Publié sur Amazon.com

Of all the cookbooks I have...and I have MANY...this one just simply beckons you to get started making soup immediately. It is laid out in a simple, uncluttered manner, with beautiful photography and uplifting graphics. The soups are organized in seasons which makes it very easy to choose the ones that make use of vegetables that are at their finest. If you have never made soup before, the beginning of the book explains all the how-tos from pantry essentials to stock making...nourishment and comfort in a bowl! It does not hurt either to know that the profits from this book go directly back to the Soup Sisters organization so that they can continue making soup for women and children who have experienced family violence and youth in crisis!

The recipes I have tried have all been excellent. Normally one gets 2-3 very good recipes from a cookbook. This is the best soup cookbook I have found so far!
