BOOK DESCRIPTION:
Murder... Greed... Treason... The morning after Halloween the city of St. Paul awakens to find that a serial killer terrorizing the blue-collar working women of University Avenue has struck for the fifth time. The citizens of St. Paul are on edge.

Thirty-two-year-old fourth-generation St. Paul Homicide Detective Michael "Mac" McRyan thought his day was going to be less stressful. His day would involve paper work, coffee, and maybe even an early trip to the pub. Then his cell phone tells him his day is about to change. A body has been found in a high-end condominium between Summit and Grand Avenues; and it's not just anyone.

"Your day just got worse," Mac tells his captain.

The victim is Claire Daniels, the Twin Cities' most prominent political and investigative reporter. Claire was stunningly attractive. She had blonde hair, blue eyes and a curvaceous body she worked on relentlessly. Claire was the desire of every man in town.

With the Daniels murder on top of the latest serial killer attack, the political and media pressure on the St. Paul Police Department only builds and places Mac in the middle of a dangerous and high-stakes murder investigation that will ultimately have national political and security implications.

4.0 étoiles sur 5 Great Saint Paul Based Novel 11 juillet 2007
Par orr333 - Publié sur Amazon.com

Having recently read Brian Freeman's "Immoral" and "Stripped" I was on a run of Minnesota based authors and was enjoying references to local sights, locations and events. The St. Paul Conspiracy was suggested to me so I immediately picked it up.

Having lived in Saint Paul for 12 years, the descriptions brought me right back to the city. Very few details were changed and in most cases when they were, it was easy to reference the actual bar, eatery or event that was used as the template. For example, "The Grand Filet" was The Tavern on Grand where Gorbachev once ate walleye. For this reason, the book was outstanding and remained true to St. Paul's style and culture.

The story line has creative characters, witty dialogue and convincing events. I only reduced my rating from 5 stars because I thought the story was very predictable and offered no surprises to the reader. For a first novel of this type, Roger Stelljes did a fantastic job and I would jump at the oppportunity to read his next book which would hopefully continue to build on Mac, his star detective.

I give this book 4.5 stars and highly reccomend you give it a try!

It's a page-turner! I generally read to relax and put myself to sleep, but this book kept me up most of the night. Stelljes has done his homework - the story has credibility and enough suspense to hold your attention.

Great work for a first-time author - I'll be watching for the next book.

3.0 étoiles sur 5 Flight of Fancy 1 octobre 2012

This was the text I selected to read on a recent flight. It fitted the task perfectly. An easy, throw away crime novel that didn't require much in the way of thought. The characters were developed just enough for you to identify that good was good and bad got the justice they deserved. The plot had enough of the twists needed to counter turbulence.

I did buy the second book in the sequence for the return flight. I put that down and had the red wine instead.

5.0 étoiles sur 5 Couldn't put it down 16 juillet 2011

Excellent mystery novel that turned into a "can't put it down" book. I effortlessly read this on my iPhone and Viewsonic gTablet using Kindle software. Sometimes with a questionable element of luck McRyan predictably succeeds in early chapters of the book. However, the mystery remains and turns to a strong need to get to the next chapter to find out what happens. In hindsight the early successes are key to character development and moving the story to more important elements.

Well written and free from error this book should not be considered a local novel. Instead Stelljes has used St. Paul as an excellent backdrop and refreshing change from the status quo of Chicago or New York. The Minnesota landscape provides a perfect setting between rural and metropolitan scenes and managing a timeline tied to the seasons.

On your Kindle you can't go wrong. In print this is a great read and a book you would want to pass to a friend when done.

5.0 étoiles sur 5 A wonderful download for e-readers!!! 24 mai 2011

For all you e-book readers that missed this wonderful book in print, you must download it - you won't be disappointed! The St. Paul Conspiracy is a page-turner (or a button pusher on readers)! The story line is compelling and Roger Stelljes' characters quickly come alive - you join them in their adventures through areas of St. Paul that are accurately and colorfully described. Hopefully Stelljes' second book, Deadly Stillwater, will be available as an e-book soon....keep an eye out for it.
