Présentation de l'éditeur

At a breakneck pace, students, teachers, and schools around the world are adopting the TI-Nspire as their graphing calculator of choice. However, with the popular TI-83 series dominating math classrooms around the world for over a decade, many students and teachers are still scrambling to figure out how to use the powerful new TI-Nspire.

This brief TI-Nspire tutorial book is a simple way to get started on the TI-Nspire graphing calculator. Whether you are a high school student who's never picked up a graphing calculator or a teacher looking to get current with the latest technology, you'll find numerous tutorials in this book to get you started. Button press sequences and dozens of screen captures will help guide you through the process of learning to use the TI-Nspire.

Since this book is full of tutorials for beginners, the focus is on the basics of the TI-Nspire. Whether your target mathematics level is Algebra I, Calculus, or anywhere in between, you'll find that these tutorials will help you achieve a comfort level with the Nspire. While numerous features of the Nspire are touched on, the focus in this volume is on basic navigation and settings of the Nspire, calculator features, and graphing features. Examples are explained for every type of window, including spreadsheets and data and statistics.

Regardless of what version of the TI-Nspire you own, CAS or non-CAS, clickpad, touchpad, or the TI-Nspire CX, you will find that the TI-Nspire tutorials are aligned to your calculator. The second edition of these TI-Nspire tutorials are written for TI-Nspire OS 3.9, the latest version of the operating system released in June 2014. If you have an older version of the operating system on your TI-Nspire, you will find directions in the book on where to turn to update your calculator at no additional cost. Any version of the TI-Nspire is capable of running the latest OS 3.2, whether you have the original grayscale TI-Nspire clickpad or the latest full color TI-Nspire CX.

This ebook is probably best for the true beginner. It begins with a lengthy section as the author extols the virtues of the TI Nspire series over the TI-84 Plus Silver Edition and even goes as far as to chide school administrators for not adopting the Nspire calculators faster. Once you get past all the mushy gushing then the real introduction begins.

I was expecting something that had more detail so I was just a bit disappointed. However, the book is intended to help users learn to navigate the new interface of the Texas Instruments Nspire CX and CAS scientific/graphing calculator with the Nspire OS 3.2. In this respect the book excels detailing how to navigate the new menus, how to use some of the features, what abilities the Nspire offers and reveals some handy shortcuts.

This book does not explain every feature or detail. Instead, it focuses on showing users how to find the features and allowing the users to use that knowledge to play around the learn the rest on their own.

The TI-Nspire for Beginners covers features that are common to both the Nspire CX and Nspire CX CAS. The Computer Algebra System features of the CAS are not covered here, but instead are the subject of their own ebook by the same author.

4.0 étoiles sur 5 This book teaches you alot about the TI-nSpire series calculators! 25 mai 2013

This book teaches you a lot about the TI-nSpire series calculator, and it doesn't matter what model, all that's required is that you have the most current OS update (3.2 for this edition). It lost one star because even though it does cover the other "tabs" of geometry, spreadsheets, data & statistics, etc., it does not go into much detail. The author even states he assumes you already know how to use those tabs, a bit presumptuous if you ask me; why would I be reading a "Beginners" book if I already knew how to use the thing? I suspect that maybe the author doesn't know those functions either. Anyway, the main reason I bought the book was very helpful, the calculator and graphing functions; the author goes into great detail on these two tabs, he even discusses what the CAS model can do, but I bought his second volume to learn more on the CAS.

5.0 étoiles sur 5 Pretty handy 20 décembre 2012

This probably couldn't be considered critical, meaning that you can find everything that is in here somewhere else, but it sure is handy to have it all clearly laid out in one place. For that it is well worth the few bucks.

This book got me past some of the initial issues I couldn't work out. It has been 20 years since I have used a graphing calculator and while much is the same, navigation is very different.

The book is well written. It is clear, organized, and easy to follow, with excellent screen shots.. Very quickly the reader begins to get a handle on how to operate the TI-Nspire CX CAS. I have not finished reading the text, but so far it has helped me greatly.
