Présentation de l'éditeur

A funny book about a funny club

Quirky people buy quirky things - and Ebay is full of quirky things. DANGER ALERT! What if they can't stop bidding? What if their lives become quirkier and quirkier as a result? TIME TO JOIN THE EBAY CLUB!

Every week a dozen or so Ebay idiots rock up to the Village Hall carrying an assorted array of nonsense, show it off to their peers and admit, often reluctantly, that they may, just may, have a problem. Here's your chance to gatecrash a meeting and see if you agree.

First you'll meet Big Dick. He rules the club with a rod of iron. But underneath he has a heart of gold – and an incredibly small bladder. Which is a bit of a contradiction, given his name. He misses most of each meeting by dashing to the loo.

A wonderful bunch of misfits. From the upper echelons – Lord Marmite, who bids on antique commodes… to society’s underbelly – Micky Finn, who bids on various disguises to go thieving in.

Daft Donald, a tiny fellow who loves uniforms… an irate individual named Mr Angry, who bids on lots he can shout at… a vicar who collects bones…David Attenborough, who buys Toys-R-Us cast-offs…Cyril Fox, a barrow boy who deals from a suitcase bigger than Dr Who's tardis…a 90 year old thug who inflicts terror on her sheltered accommodation... two close 'friends', Lamb and lettuce who prance around in mankinis feeding their toes to fish... a robot with a mind of its own...and a lookalikee who employs her own Mr Paparazzi.

How about a London Routemaster bus for starters, a human skull, a Guardsman’s bearskin, a burqa, a much loved iguana, a destructive Segway scooter, and a selection of candles in the wind.

Carol singers under arrest. A Guardsman being chased by hostile parents. A bus journey from hell. Flying cyclists. Car wars on the high street. Piers Morgan as a punchbag (yesss!), courtesy of the renowned ex-boxer, Sugar Ray Shit for Brains, and Davy Crockett, King of the Wild Frontier, makes a comeback.

So come on...take the plunge and dive into this mad world of laugh out loud comedy...they're all there waiting for you.

Why not try out The Village Idiots Cruise Club by Charlie Bray? You'll find it on Amazon Kindle.

I read a review of this book by fellow author Beem Weeks and it intrigued me. I have a quirky sense of humor and it had been a while since I've had something tickle my funny bone.

Note: If you are not one that likes your humor on the slightly sarcastic side, then this may not necessarily be your cup of soda. However, if this doesn't apply to you, read on.

First off, I absolutely love the cover! It's bright, well illustrated and inviting you for a good time.

I don't have an addiction to eBay. In fact, I have never purchased anything from eBay. But if I did, this definitely tells me what not to do and definitely what not to buy!

So many parts of this book had me guffawing uncontrollably. From the innocent old lady who is really wrecking habit in the neighborhood to the salesperson who comes to the meetings just to sell more stuff to the eBay addicts, this read is nothing sort of strange experiences that I could not help but smile at, simply because I know a few people just like this.

I highly recommend The Village Idiots Ebay Club and I will definitely check out more books by this author.

not that great, narration trick throughout the book really did not work for me. I finished it, but wonder why

This is a cracking little read, and I even noticed I was chuckling away to myself a couple of times.

I’ve often woke up in the cold light of day casually wondering what my ‘drunk self’ bought my ‘sober self’ the night before, figuring I’ll discover that in a few days. Well, in this book we follow the confessions of a group of self-imposed e-bay habitué who are not just recreational EBay users, but are actually mainlining the online auction site.

The book follows an e-bay idiot’s meeting in which members have to stand up in front of all present, admit they’re an idiot and confess to their latest EBay acquisition. There’s slight confusion here because everything’s written in the first person, but once you get used to this its fun reading. The author has considered the characters well, ensuring there’s a fine pot-pourri of personalities, one of whom even reminded me of Flash Harry from St Trinians.

The finale finds the club members setting off on a pilgrimage home in an EBay-acquired double-decker bus.

Very funny. Good British understated humor although it's a farce. The subject is unique, although it applies to most of us who overbuy on eBay.

If you’ve ever felt that unmistakable lure of E-bay, this is a book for you. If you just enjoy a good laugh-out-loud sort of read, The Village Idiots Ebay Club is just what you need. I found this hilarious story on the Indie Tribe web site and took a chance on it. I’ve never used E-bay personally, but I know many who seem to be addicted to the site. Author Charlie Bray has managed to capture the silliness of those who find themselves hopelessly caught in the pull of the online bidding web site. Set up like an Alcoholics Anonymous meeting, the story gives readers a fly-on-the-wall listen as a cast characters birthed from the mind of the author tell their tales of woefully idiotic behavior seemingly instigated by the bidding web site. Members of this group spill the beans on themselves, discussing the uselessness of the items purchased, the foolishness of prices paid for worthless objects, and the pure additive rush of a winning bid. Author Bray uses humor and wickedly creative dialogue like a true master, drawing laughs from readers with the ease of a classic storyteller. This book is unique, quite original, and deserving of a wide audience. I highly recommend it to anybody who appreciates a good, funny read.
