Présentation de l'éditeur

Improve your writing and enhance your creativity with the power of imagery.

Let's face it. Some authors write so beautifully with such vivid description that it makes you question your own abilities. You want to write compelling books, but sometimes it feels like you got the short end of the creativity stick. What if you could tap into an unknown source of writing eloquence that's present in every human mind? What if one book could give you the tools you need to write descriptions that jump right off the page?

What many struggling writers forget is that humans are visual creatures. Because "seeing" is a more natural way to express, we're drawn to imagery for inspiration. The Visual Writer allows you to tap into the power of photos to give you a new perspective and renewed creative energy.

Attacking Creativity From the Side

Albert Einstein once said, "I live my daydreams in music." He and other famous creatives often turned to seemingly unrelated creative endeavors to help them when they were stuck. He called this the "combinatory play" of the mind. Using Einstein's methodology, author Nancy Hendrickson provides you with impressive imagery to use as a creative function in your writing. By stepping outside of words and using imagery and other creative outlets, you'll add depth, color, and vibrancy to your writing.

Through the use of Nancy's book, your jealousy of "beautiful writing" will fade as you create your own rich tapestry of words. Soon enough, you'll be the author other writers are envious of. Let Nancy show you the way. (This book was originally published as Vanquish Writer’s Block)

The Visual Writer is a new approach to get you out of your writing funk and into a creative flow state. Nancy's latest book is quirky, stimulating, thought-provoking, and unconventional. Use it to fill your head with incredible ideas.

Buy The Visual Writer today to take your writing to a whole new level!

Beautiful, disarming, well written book on how a professional writer creatively counters writer's block. Author Nancy Hendrickson lays bare her insecurities and strengths to help other writers creatively counter their stuck-in-the-mud writing frustrations. Instead of the same-old, same-old, set a timer and write, assign yourself a task, etc., etc., she goes for the right brained "fun" approach...look at images, take a walk...check a deck of oracle cards...take photos...and explains how each can trigger the creative process while balancing in the "left" brain. Highly recommended. A must have for every writer.

Nancy Hendrickson is, in a word, Inspirational! Yes there are books aplenty on Writers Block; what it is what it isn't and what you can do to overcome it. This book is different and details some interesting and very actionable strategies to getting those words flowing again.
Just as every writer's approach to putting words on a page differs, so it follows that writers block can enter stage left, stage right or curtain call; or in my case the proverbial unmentionable gift from the sky just when you least expect it. All of the reasons for whatever block you face require a different approach in achieving a solution.
The Author is an accomplished writer and therefore her methods for dealing with writers block have evolved over time into a portfolio of simple, easy to implement steps that get the job done.
The main thrust to removing the road blocks are the use of images, both personal photos and free stuff available online. Nancy takes a lot of photos many of which stay hidden for months or years but sure as eggs are eggs they get used eventually and with good effect.
No prizes for guessing that this strategy works well. Did you ever hear the phrase "A Picture Paints a Thousand words?" Well then this technique is worth a go if you struggle from time to time (or heaven forbid all of the time!)
The latter part of the book covers interviews with three established Authors: Joanna Penn; Sherrie Dolby and Joe Bunting each of whom give their own personal take on overcoming writers block.
I found the Brain-Hacks section to be particularly useful as quick fixes. All told an excellent book for any aspiring writer whether you are recreating Vlad the Impaler, Nosferatu or Back Packing in Zimbabwe.
What I particularly liked and haven't seen before is the listing of Photo Credits at the end of the book, something I will definitely include in my own work in the future.

A thought provoking book from a real professional and thankfully no evidence whatsoever of that current Kindle fad of throw it up and listen to the ca ching of the cash register. Should be in every writer's arsenal!

I think what makes this guide special is that it offers creative ideas and techniques, not just the same old "Inspiration must find you working, so just sit at your desk and torture your brains until something comes out of it".

Using images to stimulate yourself and to find inspiration is a great practical idea, plus the brain-hacks offered by Nancy Hendrickson are simple (any writer can use them, it's not rocket science), but effective ones. Love the fact that other writers contribute with their own tips and tricks regarding writer's block - this way you get more valuable advice in just one guide.

So if you've found yourself stuck, without any ideas to exploit and to turn into great pieces of writing, then this guide is bound to help you out.

Once again, Nancy Hendrickson has written a book that belongs on every writer's virtual bookshelf. Although there is no shortage of books on writer's block, Nancy has a unique approach and presents realistic, usable, techniques that really work. This book has been very helpful to me, and I am sure other writers, and aspiring writers will agree. I highly recommend this book.

A must-have book for every writer in the world. A new approach I am already using to write better and overcome my laziness.

Sure I had heard some of this before, but I found the author's presentation to be unique, effective and genius! At first I thought it to be a bit wacky to be using taro cards for discovering a new perspective but once the author explained the method I found to be brilliant and something I now will use in my creative inspiration as I write - everything from character development to plot and setting. This is all new to me but a brilliant approach.

It was fascinating to see how the author used images to spark ideas for new writing and completing a piece of the story.

I also loved all the brain hacks to combat writer's block (Omega 3 my literary brain's new best friend!)

Writer's block no more! Thanks to this book.
