Descriptions du produit

Description du produit

These are probably the only currently known live recordings of the Stooges from the 1970 shows. Deluxe long box packaging with stunning unseen photos of the band shot by Fan Club girl Natalie Stoogeling on the road in 1970.

Biographie de l'artiste

The Stooges gained a reputation for their wild, primitive live performances. Pop, especially, won fame for his outrageous onstage behaviour smearing his bare chest with hamburger meat and peanut butter, cutting himself with shards of glass, and flashing his genitalia to the audience. At one concert, he played a vacuum cleaner like a musical instrument. Pop is also sometimes credited with the popularization of stage diving!.

Prime Era Stooges Live 23 janvier 2011
Par directions - Publié sur Amazon.com
Format: CD Achat vérifié
This is an essential recording to hear what the Stooges sounded like live in their prime. The You Dont Want My Name You Want My Action (4 CD Box) is to some degree of less interest because it is from a transitional period in the band's history (and one not recorded in the studio). Metallic K.O. 2xCD is from what in some ways was another band (although an essential historical recording).
However until recently it was believed there were no: Funhouse
era live recordings and thankfully due to unearthing collector's audience recordings this can now be heard. Basically it captures the Stooges at a time when the live experience was as crucial (if not more so) than the studio recordings. There is one full set that has the audience interaction, free jazz freakouts and general quality of controlled mayhem that was a typical live Stooges show. The first two sons are from an unrelated concert perhaps: Have Some Fun: Live At Ungano's However the last two songs (my only gripe being the lack of the accompanying video footage which exists) from a tv broadcast with the infamous "peanut butter" incident are themselves a crucial experience in the formation of punk. Caveat emptor, this is still an audience recording but played loudly enough one forgets....

Stooges - 'A Thousand Lights: Live In 1970' (Easy Action) 6 février 2012
Par Mike Reed - Publié sur Amazon.com
Format: CD
Most elaborate packaging job I believe I've ever seen for a single-disc release. I gave 'Thousand Lights' a five-star rating for it's rarity factor alone. You basically get snippets / songs from four different 1970 live Iggy & The Stooges gigs here. Myself, one I enjoyed the most were the tunes we get from the Chicago show where we get quality live performances of "Loose", "Down On The Street", "1970", "Funhouse" and "LA Blues" - so it's basically a twenty-seven minute Stooges gig where they likely opened for another band. One question that comes to mind is why are there four versions of "1970"? Last two cuts "T.V. Eye" and again "1970" sound like they're probably brief segments from a TV show. Comes with a lavish twenty-page booklet - packed with Polaroid-like color live snapshots. I got my copy of this CD from an overseas seller. At first, I was suspicious at the low price the seller permitted me to purchase this piece - thinking maybe it was one of those Russian bootleg jobs. No way! In fact, I will shake hands with any bootlegger that could actually duplicate this import release. An absolute must-have.
