Descriptions du produit

More chills! More kills! More thrills! The first volume of "Thriller" brought today's top thriller writers together in one book, an all-star team of suspense fiction. "Thriller 2" aims to raise the bar even further. Like its predecessor, "Thriller 2" will give fans a chance to read previously unpublished work by their favourite authors and also discover new writers they might have only heard of before but never read. Clive Cussler in his role as editor has selected a who's-who of today's bestselling authors, including Jeffery Deaver, David Hewson, Brad Meltzer, Barry Eisler, R.L. Stine - and many more. These are the modern masters of suspense, and this anthology will reveal a side of them that their millions of fans have never seen before.

5.0 étoiles sur 5 Good Easy Read Money Well Spent 19 juin 2009

As a history teacher I don't typically read fiction. I came across this book at a time when I happened to be in the mood for some light fiction reading. The stories can be read in 20-30 minutes and although I have not read them all the first 10 have all been good and have exposed me to authors that I would probably never have read otherwise. A very good investment for those times when you might be between other works and/or not certain what you want to read next.

5.0 étoiles sur 5 Another Thriller Of A Book! 26 juillet 2009

I read the first Thriller and enjoyed it immensely. Thriller 2 is even
better. There were several stories that grabbed my attention. "The Weapon"
by Jeffery Deaver had a stunning ending. "Remaking" by Blake Crouch was a
very good story. "The Circle" written by David Hewson will frighten you.
"Roomful Of Witnesses" by R.L. Stine has a novel approach. "The House On
Pine Terrace" by Philip Margolinleaves you wondering who is good and who is bad. "The Lamented"by Lawrence Light was a very god story. Through Light I discovered a new author. "Vintage Death" by Lisa Jackson takes a
close up look at a California wine dynasty. "Suspension Of Disbelief" offers a different look at the world of a writer. "A Calculated Risk "
gives you an interesting look at the world of doublecrossing. "The Fifth
World" by Juan Sierra shows the end of the world according to Mayan lore. "Ghost Writer" by Gary Braver was another interesting story in this book."Through A Veil Darkly" gives you a unique look at the Presidency.
"Bedtime For Mr. Li' by Davifd Montgomery is an interesting of a professional killer. "Killing Time" by Jon Land was an outstanding story about a contract killer on the run from the authorities. Be sure to read
"Thriller 2". This is a very good book.

After reading, several times, and absolutely loving the first Thriller book (seriously, it's worth the buy), I was excited to see that a second one had come out and bought it right off the shelf. Big mistake. If you expect anything better that a mediocre read, you are going to be bored out of your mind and disappointed for the majority of this book.

While the first Thriller excelled in suspenseful, on the edge of your seat, unpredictable stories (Wait, actual Thrillers???), the second specialized is predictable stories that had me bored to tears (Not worthy of the title "thrillers"). Nearly every story had me waiting for it to end so I could move onto the next one. The book began to pick up right around the 13th story, Lawrence Light's "The Lamented" and from then on was at least tolerable, but that was the FIRST story I read in that book that I didn't finish by saying "well, that was stupid" or, at the very least, predictable.

The only reason I'm not giving it a single star is because of the few lone writers in this anthology that actually wrote decent stories.

So, if you're interested in paying full $25 (or $17, I guess) for 7 or 8 decent stories at the end of an otherwise terrible book, buy it, otherwise save your money and buy stories that someone actually put some thought into.
