Présentation de l'éditeur

Selene Warren’s life is plagued by disaster. To fix the trouble her good intentions caused, she needs to rescue the necromancer who tried to help her, find and return the Pole of Charon, and win over the Elfish people. However, nothing ever goes as planned.
The necromancer reappears in the Abyss, but is determined to be an enemy rather than a friend. The Pole of Charon can’t be tracked, yet small tears between worlds pop up and let in monsters that threaten to expose what Selene brought back. Tensions between elves and the other fae could erupt into violence at any moment, tearing apart the race once and for all.
To mend the rips in the veil, Selene’s coven will have to use black magic, but that comes at a cost. Every time a spell is cast their souls are at stake. Forced to make a deal with an enemy or let the world be destroyed, all of her the lies and double crosses start to add up. The line between good and evil blurs until Selene doesn’t know which side she is fighting for.

Biographie de l'auteur

MANY AUTHORS CLAIM to have known their calling from a young age. Liz Schulte, however, didn't always want to be an author. In fact, she had no clue. Liz wanted to be a veterinarian, then she wanted to be a lawyer, then she wanted to be a criminal profiler. In a valiant effort to keep from becoming Walter Mitty, Liz put pen to paper and began writing her first novel. It was at that moment she realized this is what she was meant to do. As a scribe she could be all of those things and so much more. When Liz isn’t writing or on social networks she is inflicting movie quotes and trivia on people, reading, traveling, and hanging out with friends and family. Liz is a Midwest girl through and through, though she would be perfectly happy never having to shovel her driveway again. She has a love for all things spooky, supernatural, and snarky. Her favorite authors range from Edgar Allen Poe to Joseph Heller to Jane Austen to Jim Butcher and everything in between. Liz would love to hear from you

3.0 étoiles sur 5 Read the Previous Installments First 4 janvier 2015

In the fourth installment of Liz Schulte's Easy Bake Coven Series, Tiddly Jinx, Selene Warren finds she must fix some of the damage she did in the underworld. (Apparently, her disastrous adventures in the underworld are explained in previous novels.) Black magic must be used. Since Selene is pregnant, Cheney and her friends won't let her perform the black magic, since it may corrupt her (or kill her) and the newborn baby. It is decided that a necromancer (also from a previous novel) be brought in and trained in black magic spells by Selene's Grandmother. Selene and the necromancer, named Frost, are constantly bickering. To make matters worse, Selene is being pursued by a Vampire, Corbin, who wants to take Selene from Cheney.

This is, unfortunately, a very dangerous mission, and since the creatures of Fae dislike Selene and don't trust her, she and Cheney become willing to step down as rulers. Because of Selene's past adventures, everyone in Fae is in danger, especially those she loves.

Although I was familiar with the main characters and the fantasy world of Fae, I found that by not having read installments two and three, I was clueless as to what was going on; the book made reference to several happenings that were not explained, such as the death of Cheney's father, the King, and Selene's adventures in the underworld and the damage she had caused. This is definitely a series where the books must be read in order and where events from the previous novels are key to understanding the next. For those who enjoy the series, it is a good idea to read the first three before starting Tiddly Jinx. This fantasy series about elves, witches, vampires, etc., is on the lighter side, and for those who like fantasy thrillers, will certainly be an enjoyable, fast read.

Special thanks to PJ Nunn of Breakthrough Promotions for supplying a review copy of this book.

I will say one thing up front-this is not a stand alone book. You really have to start at Book 1 and work your way through the series. You can find the list of the other books below and I believe there will be one more coming as well. I felt like I was missing a bit here and there. If you enjoy fantasy with Fae folk, elves, vampires, witches with a couple of humans etc then this series is for you! I would even recommend this to parents of pre teens and teens!

Liz Schulte has a marvelous imagination and really comes up with some whoppers of scenes. Poor Selene who is 1/2 elf and 1/2 human (I think) really can get into lots of problems without even meaning to. Getting out of them is never as easy as it would seem. She is very lucky she has good friends and is about to marry the Elf King-unless the vampire can convince her differently.

What I especially liked was the lesson that kind of comes out--no matter the combination of parents-people are people and deserve respect!

After I read the first book I literally bought the rest of the series back to back. Finished the entire thing in less than a week; I just couldn't stop reading. So for books 2-5 I'm posting the same review as well my reviews don't have spoilers.

Ms. Schulte did it AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

She took Greek Mythology and put great twists on them. I love how I had the basic classical knowledge and then she brought all the characters to life.

I love the relationship between Selene and Cheney, although to be honest there were times I found them both whiny and wished one of their friends, I think had Femi not had her hands full in another series and had been around just a tad more she'd have smacked them both once or twice.

I can't wait to see which characters Ms. Shulte is going to explore next.

Again I say I am hooked on this series. I can't wait for the next and final installment of Selene and Chaney's story. After all the things they have been through together, I am anxious to know what will happen next. As I said before, I have enjoyed all the characters and how the series takes place in a different realm with fairies, elves, vampires and tons of other mythical beings mixed in together. (And again I refuse to spoil the story for anyone by summarizing it in essay form or simply picking it apart. So again, no spoilers from me.) If you have faithfully followed the series up to now, I'm quite sure you will enjoy this part too.

I don't know why the series' titles and book covers are designed to appear as a light-hearted, fun, romantic, and humorous "chick-lit" because it's anything but that. The heroine, Selene, is always in a state of stress, trying to solve problems that get even worse. In most books of this type, the heroine usually starts eating ice cream with her friends when trouble hits. But not Selene. There's a seriousness in her to make things right and the sacrifices and tough decisions it takes to make it. I've enjoyed this series but think the titles and covers should reflect the storyline.
