As an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) in private practice who works with many families whose babies have tongue-tie, and as a mom of a tongue-tied child (reason I am an IBCLC) I have to say this book is awesome. Up to date, well referenced and easy to read parents who are struggling with or need more information on tongue-tie will find this book by Catherine Horsfall incredibly helpful. From simply understanding what tongue-tie is to how to find a knowledgeable care provider (not always easy to do!) she walks parents through this often frustrating situation quite nicely.

I have already recommended this book "Tongue tie: breastfeeding and beyond. A parents' guide to diagnosis, division and aftercare" to parents and professionals alike. It's full of information that is helpful to the professional as well!

If you are struggling with tongue-tie and aren't sure what to do, or what information to believe (since there are so many opinions on this topic) read this book. The straight forward, no nonsense approach will help you more than you can imagine.

I wish this had been around 6 years ago. I could not breastfeed my eldest, I was in so much pain, she could not latch, I was in agony, I now know that she had lip and ta posterior tongue tie. I ended up pumping for 6 months for her. All of my children have ties, as do I! This book is great, it is fully evidenced so you can trust the information, and also pass it on to your doctor to help educate them about ties.
As a sleep deprived mum of three, this book speaks to me, and knowing that the author has also been on the journey with her kids also makes a massive difference.
Mums need more help, and this subject needs to be out there, thanks Catherine Horsfall for a gem of a book!!

Tongue tie: breastfeeding and beyond. A parents' guide to diagnosis, division and aftercare. is an up-to-the-minute guide, skilfully executed by someone who knows the subject from the inside, as a parent of kids with tongue tie.

Catherine Horsfall breaks down this common (although usually misunderstood) problem in children and babies, into manageable, digestible parts, and helps parents find the necessary answers to the myriad of questions that we have. Along the way, she gives us tips, helpful avenues of investigation and possible solutions, which are sadly, still not well known enough.

In most cases, there are simple solutions; however, greater and more recent knowledge about tongue tie and its associated issues, still needs to be fostered and encouraged amongst healthcare professionals across the world, as the current state of assessment and care is often greatly lacking.

Catherine's book helps parents to fill in some of the gaps that exist in the knowledge base and should help many more parents find the answers to the questions and problems that they face with tongue tied babies and children.

As a parent of kids with this condition and a peer breastfeeding supporter, I thoroughly enjoyed discovering this excellent guide and strongly recommend it.
