I am very happy of this method, it is so appropriate. I definitely recommend it. Efficient, pleasant, stress less, logical and based on speaking!

Awesome but... 9 janvier 2013

If you are going to learn Arabic, this is the ONLY way to do it. Really. It is utterly amazing how well this method works. It blows my mind to think that one can achieve an intermediate level on a language such as Arabic in a matter of hours. Yes! Hours.

You are asked to construct the sentences yourself and this strengthens your recollection of the material learned. It works like magic.

One of the most amazing things about this method is that you are not writing nor memorizing anything.

Do practice the lessons as instructed on the CD; that is, find a quiet room, close your eyes and go. In my opinion, this methods will not work as well if you listen while doing something else such as driving or watching tv.

Mr. Thomas was a genius. I don't know how the other companies selling foreign language courses will stay in business with this method out and available.

I had a little bit of an error at the end of disc 3 but the rest of the CDs were error free.

I hope they add more languages in the future.

ROCK AND ROLL!!!!

Great Introductory Course 11 août 2013
Par Paul - Publié sur Amazon.com
Format: CD
I just finished this course literally minutes ago so it`s all fresh in my mind. This is a great course for learning introductory Arabic (Egyptian dialect). It is structured in a way that makes learning VERY easy. I do have some basic knowledge of Modern Standard Arabic and have a strong understanding of Hebrew, which indeed helps in learning an Arabic dialect. But I`m fully confident that a total beginner with no experience with semitic languages would find it equally as easy (and probably a bit more thrilling since it would all be new to them). Because the language is introduced piece by piece with each piece re-appearing periodically.

I fully recommend this as an introductory course in spoken Arabic, if you want to learn Egyptian dialect. But it must be pointed out that this course will not make you conversationally fluent in Arabic. I`m writing this because some other reviewers write their reviews with a sort of post-course high that clouds their perception somewhat. You will not be at an intermediate level of Arabic after finishing this course. You will have the ability to make simple sentences correctly, with a very small vocabulary. Perhaps a level that will help you while travelling, and with the aid of a dictionary will help you communicate. But don`t expect to be having hour long fluent chats with Arabs. The course teaches you how to make sentences, but it is all controlled practice. There is no conversational or situation-based practice. I did the MT French course about 6 months ago and I learned a lot very quickly, but when I talked to French people I had to piece together sentences very slowly, and I couldn`t understand their speech very easily. There`s still a long way to go after an MT course. Again, I say this only because some people delude themselves about their level after finishing an MT course. The courses really are great introductory courses.

One thing MT courses do is get me fired up and motivated to keep studying the language. Now I`m ready to get into some deeper study of Arabic. I will finish Mastering Arabic 2 (this is Modern Standard Arabic) and will do the FSI Saudi Arabic course (which is the Hejazi dialect which is quite similar to Egyptian, but also similar to Palestinian in many ways).

This is my first attempt at a new language. Before starting this I'd recommend learning the alphabet so your familiar with the sounds. Her easy Arabic script book is nice but you can also learn it for free on you tube with Arabic studio, its free and he's very good. He will teach you to read and write the Arabic script. As for total Arabic.....its awesome. I just finished the series and can't believe the results. You won't be a native speaker after this series but you will have a great base for continued learning.
