4.0 étoiles sur 5 With great illustrations to help you analyze your posture 13 septembre 2014

Ever wonder while you are running, "what am I doing wrong?" Ever wish someone could help analyze your stride and give you tips to improve? Well, this book does that and more. With great illustrations to help you analyze your posture, your foot-strike, your swimming stroke, your cycling technique, this book can help take apart each aspect of the process, and rebuild your technique. I love the fact that you can use the stretches and strengthening exercises at home, improving your triathlon performance before ever heading outside. Great book, great resource.

This book is excellent in its explanations and remedies to the premise that to achieve your absolute best results, you must consider and improve the limiters in your movements. The format is easy to follow and accompanied by detailed instruction for each exercise along with beautiful photographs for further emphasis. The chapters on analyzing and improving your swimming, cycling and running are equally engaging and valuable.
Perfect book!

Marc Evans hits the nail on the head with this triathlon book. He's an expert coach that's produced a World Class gold medalist and numerous champion athletes. In this book you get over 350 pages of EXTENSIVE information on technique and form --> Technique and Form.

Being an avid runner for over 15 years, I've paged through the popular running, marathon, ultra, and triathlon books at the stores and poured over countless websites. Nearly every book tells the author''s (athlete's) story, sharing memorable races then goes into training programs that focus on increasing mileage and varying intensities - largely for the sake of increasing muscle strength, cardio endurance and VO2 Max. These are all important, but this approach is not complete. If you want to excel, you need to examine body mechanics.

Very, very, very few authors actually discuss body mechanics, technique and form. Most authors/coaches tell you to run, swim or bicycle in whatever posture comes natural. This is fine for beginners, but for those of us clocking many hours each week, we need more. I ran for 8 years and never reached the height of my performance until I studied my running gait using Pose Running and some "barefoot running" techniques. It took me about 6 months to retrain myself how to correctly run - and my results showed it.

About 4 months ago, I added swimming to my fitness program. I was already bicycling for years. Being "a land animal" swimming efficiently was by far the most challenging of the three sports to learn. This book by Marc Evans gave me that break through that I needed. Not only does Marc talk extensively about proper technique - which is vital - but he always provides over a dozen self-assessment tests. These tests are designed to focus on key areas of swimming, running and bicycling posture and movement - to identify abnormalities, imbalances, inflexibility, and weaknesses. By isolating different parts of the body's movement with each test, we get to narrow in on the nuances that are slowing us down or causing us injury. I've found these tests to be hugely important for my own progress. I can't say for sure, but I would like to think that I've saved myself about 6 months to 2 years of time by reading this book.

I can honestly say that I learned more about my body and how to get to move the way it needs to move in this book than in any other resource. I still love Pose Running for the giving me the expert advice to create breakthroughs in my running. For swimming, however, this book has been my best coach. If you are looking for an in depth science of body mechanics, technique and form, this is a true gem.
