Présentation de l'éditeur

When all hope is gone, can love still will find a way?

Tucker Simon has given up on love. After a tragedy, it’s just not in the cards for him, and he wishes his family would get off his back. He’s fine—or at least he thought he was--until a family wedding forces him to address a few things, namely his date, Abby Mathews. She's been put in the ‘friend’ category, mostly because she deserves so much more than what he can give. But the more time that he spends with her, Tucker begins to think that maybe there is a chance for love after all...

Abby Mathews has been in love with Tucker Simon since he walked into her family’s bar nearly a year ago. But he’s got baggage and heartache a plenty. His one-night-stands isn’t going to lessen that no matter what he thinks. Tucker needs a friend, but Abby wants to give him more, and as they navigate their way through a weekend in Florida, their attraction can’t be ignored. Abby has to make a choice. Does she cherish their friendship and take what she can get? Or does she go after what she really wants, which is Tucker’s heart…

2.0 étoiles sur 5 Ok book but dissapointed how repetative it got... predictable verbage not fresh and exciting 20 juin 2014

After reading the Barker Triplets boxed set I was excited to continue reading about the rest of the family. I did enjoy finding out more about Tucker but by the middle of the book I was seeing a pattern in the phrases she used, it got to the point that I knew what her next sentence was going to be and by the end I just wanted to be finished with the book because it was boring. I found several typos also. Juliana is a good writer I just feel like she got herself into a slump repeating herself over and over. For the readers who read all of her books (which i tend to do) she needs to keep it fresh and alive, make us the reader not know what she is going to say next, if her next book Jack is written the same way Tucker was I am not sure I will purchase it. The Tucker that was portrayed in Conceal did not feel like the same Tucker in this one

Trying DESPERATELY to enjoy this book. But, Ms. Stone has chosen to use "Jesus," "Jesus H. Christ" and g**damn on nearly every single Kindle page. There are so many other words that can convey exasperation, incredulity or shock. Perhaps in her next book, she can come up with some.

I think this book is closer to 2.5 stars, but I actually finished it, so I'm teetering. I'm wondering if I read the same book as the other reviewers. I liked the Barker triplet series and I like the Crystal Lake series. I was a little disappointed with Tucker. Tucker was nothing like the guy that was introduced in Conceal. In Conceal I thought of him as this broken man who just wanted his wife back. In Tucker, he came off like a pig. He's sleeping with anything that walks, he's arrogant and demanding. I find it hard to think that someone that wants their wife back would act like that. I liked Abby at first, but after she forgave Tucker for his caveman act without any groveling, I didn't like her that much. She was such a pushover. I don't care how much you love someone, she deserved groveling. Something that I missed in this book was the tender romance. There really wasn't any. The only tender moment was before they got together at the reception. After their first encounter, we were told about how tender everything was. There would be a kiss and you think that the romance is starting, but then the next scene is them waking up in each others arms. That might be why I didn't really feel any chemistry between them. This wasn't a big book, but it took me a while to get through it. I don't know if I want to invest anymore time into this series. Hopefully Jack's story will be better written.

Abby works at her family's pub. Tucker visits the pub and he and Abby hang out while she's tending bar and he's trying to stave off loneliness since his wife went missing three years ago in a plane accident. And once I learned that they had never legally declared her dead, I was waiting for the shoe to drop when Marley comes back to threaten the relationship that develops between T and A.

We meet many of the Simons in this book and frankly there seemed to be so many that it got overwhelming, but I think that's the writing style and not my inability to grasp large families. There are a number of book series out there that seem to handle large families a bit better.

So there's a series before this one that is about the Barker Triplets, if which I only read the first, mainly because it was about a female hockey player and I thought that was interesting on its own, but now I wonder if I needed to read the others two in order to understand what's happening in this book. There are references that made me feel like I was missing something, but I really think that goes to how the author chose to present the story.

I would have liked this more if I could have read more about the burgeoning relationship between Abby and Tucker at the bar, the nights they spent getting to know each other. The author told us it happened, but I would have bought this couple more if I had read the build up. I was not fond of the ending either. There's resolution, but I wanted a better declaration from him at the end than come live is this crappy run down mansion with me.

The writing got better as the story went on, with more showing, rather than telling, but there was sloppiness in this book, with typos and grammar issues. A good editor and proofer are necessary.

Abby is the part-owner of a family-owned bar and is friends with a 'regular' , Tucker.
Tucker's wife has been missing for several years (lost in a plane crash) and he has been unable to close his old life and move onto a new one.

Tucker asks Abby for a favor - to attend a wedding with him as his date for several reasons.
Abby, already in love with Tucker, agrees and hopes she can keep her feelings in check.

Abby is strong, she is talented (can draw), is perceptive, and a good person overall.
Tucker, although still messed up over the loss of a wife that he loved, is finding himself feeling hopeful with Abby. Hope for closure, love and happiness.

Abby and Tucker have great interactions. There is no high drama. But a pretty comfortable ride from friendship, to heated chemistry to love.
The ending is a bit weak - the big reveal about his wife is a bit disappointing. I kept expecting that there would be a big story behind her disappearance.
Would also loved to have a bit more info about Abby's drawing. She is supposedly very talented. Would have enjoyed to hear more about her successes as an artist. It wasn't really flushed out. Just briefly mentioned.

I liked this 'simple' romance novel (I mean, that it was a comfortable ride, nothing outrageous) to a happy ending.
