Présentation de l'éditeur

USA TODAY BEST-SELLER!

Second book in the USA Today bestselling Rose Gardner Mystery series.

"Readers will enjoy this lighthearted romantic suspense novel with a dash of comedy. The characters are memorable, the pace is fast and the dialogue is witty." RT Book Reviews

*****

When Rose reports for Fenton County jury duty she figures she’s lucky to get out of a morning working at the DMV. Instead, despite a disastrous encounter with the new assistant district attorney, Mason Deveraux, she’s picked as a juror on a murder case. As the trial progresses, she realizes an ominous vision she had in the men’s restroom proves the defendant is innocent. And there’s not a cotton picking thing she can do about it.

Or is there?

As if things weren’t bad enough, Rose’s older sister Violet is going through a mid-life crisis. Violet insists that Rose stop seeing her sexy new boyfriend, Arkansas state detective Joe Simmons and date other men. Rose is done letting people boss her around, but she can’t commit to Joe either. Still, Rose isn’t about to let the best thing in her life slip away.

Like 28.5:
I usually don't read stuff like this, i'm more of a fantasy person, so I picked it because of the visions and I must say, I was pleasantly surprised by how little I cared that the book was actually completely different from what I imagined.
So now I just keep reading them (so far three in one week).
The writing style is very relatable and the story keeps twisting and turning without being too predictable.
It's been a long time since I was so involved in a book, sometimes even crying and shouting at it :-) You sort of forget everything around you!

Very good read! Though annoying grammatical errors; you're instead of your in one book of the series! Still good enough story lines that make me want to read the next one!

5.0 étoiles sur 5 Strong second part of Rose Gardner's adventures 1 juillet 2012

Rose Gardner, at 24, is starting to live her life free of her mother's oppressive and manipulative presence. She still has to deal with nosy neighbors, her job at the DMV, her sister Violet, whose life suddenly seems to be out of control, and her brand new relationship with boyfriend Joe, the state cop.

When called for jury duty, she shows up to the court house, late, frazzled, missing a heel and in dire need of a bathroom. As the ladies' is been cleaned, she uses the men's bathroom and hears a phone conversation that convince her that the accused man is innocent of the murder he's being tried for.

I love this series. It's a fine mix of mystery and romance, with characters so real they jump out of the pages. It's full of great lines, written with a quirky sense of humor that's just perfect. Rose is strong without being rude or overbearing. Joe is a passionate character, somehow in awe of his feelings and not quite comfortable with the way trouble follows Rose.

I really appreciated that, although sex is clearly part of the heros' relationship, the author did not find it necessary to describe the how-to or who does what to whom. I also liked that the relationship is given time to evolve and that not everything is magically solved in the last ten pages.

I'll keep reading !

5.0 étoiles sur 5 Even Better Than the First 12 juillet 2012

** spoiler alert ** What can I say except this book is just as good as "Twenty-Eight and a Half Wishes." Actually, I think it's even better. I can't find any fault with it - not the story, the characters, nothing. I just loved it.

Denise Grover Swank is a very talented writer and if you haven't read any of her books, you're missing out on some terrific reads.

Just like the first book in the Rose Gardner series, this one has mystery, adventure, romance, and humour all thrown into the mix. I thought the scenes in the courthouse were hilarious, especially her exchanges with the judge. Rose and Joe are still together; however, I think there's going to be some competition for Rose's affection coming soon. Don't underestimate Rose. She may be quirky but she's also very sharp.

I cannot wait for the third book in the series. I just hope we don't have to wait too long.

After reading Twenty Eight and a Half reasons I was looking looking forward to the second book only to be disappointed by Rose s stubbornness and stupidity. Repeatedly warned by her cop boyfriend, the court , and her family to "stay out of it" she continually puts, herself in dangerous situations and has,to be rescued. Her boyfriend Joe to be is constantly driving back and forth from his job in Little Rock to protect her from the bad guys,or get her out of jail for snooping when she is thrown off a jury. While her state investigator boyfriend is incredibly patient and loves her you wonder how much more he can take of her foolhardiness. Her sister Violet is,having a,mid life crisis and has turned Mrs. .Crankypants There are a few humorous situations but they don t save the book.I just got tired of the "do something dangerous/stupid/illegal-get rescued-cry and get upset and say I won t do it again-then do it again " cycle. 3.0 étoiles sur 5 Crappy Doodles! 28 novembre 2013

I enjoyed the first book in the series (Twenty-Eight and a Half Wishes) which was a Kindle freebie. I purchased this second volume in the Rose Gardner Mystery Series, as I wanted to see how the relationship between the main character (Rose) and her boyfriend (Joe) progressed. I didn't expect much, overall the books are easy reads and lighthearted, despite being mysteries and dealing with some unpleasant situations. However, I had to dock it a complete star on the incessant over-use of the phrase "Crappy Doodles" alone. In the first book, Rose is very sheltered and naive, which she seems to grow out of in a hurry. By the second book, she's barely a shadow of who she once was - except for that extremely annoying phrase (Crappy Doodles) when she gets flustered, which is often. While the character grows and starts using swear words, the usage of *insert annoying phrase here* doesn't seem to fit with her new persona. I believe that the author was trying to show the reader that Rose was a simple and innocent girl, but it just didn't flow with the way Rose was maturing. It was extremely juvenile and kept me from connecting to Rose. It's also a pet peeve of mine when an author uses a phrase over and over - it shows a lack of creativity. The book was a fun little read otherwise (if you can get past the fact that it's completely unbelievable), and I will finish the series by reading book 3. I can only hope the author has eased up on the "Crappy Doodles" this time around.

Totally enjoyed Twenty Nine and a half reasons... Laughing at parts and edge of my seat in others. Wonders how on earth one woman could get herself into so much trouble, and still keep her wits about her..
Keep them coming Denise Grover Swank, can't wait for the next....
