Présentation de l'éditeur

I am mentally exhausted. I am at my wit's end. I am in the dark, again, with no end in sight.

But just when all hope seems lost, a light appears at the end of the tunnel. A confession... that breaks me from the stranglehold of hopelessness and despair. An admission... that brings new dimensions to the man who is shrouded in secrecy.

Stonehart’s revelation can never change what he’s done to me. But can it be enough to make a difference in how I see him? As old questions are answered, new ones arise:

Is it possible for a man to change?

Is is possible for him to repent for all his sins?

And, perhaps most important of all:

Is it possible for me to forgive?

2.0 étoiles sur 5 Hate this series 12 août 2014

I loved Truth and Consequences by Althea Romig. I enjoyed the In the Dark series. Both are series with a kidnapped and abused heroine who ends falling for her dark, misguided kidnapper. It's an interesting genre with a mix of thriller, mystery and romance.

This series is not. Ms. Edwards says she reads all her reviews and I hope I don't offend. I won't complain about the short books and the exorbitant price of them, enough people have and you get the point. She has figured out how to leave us hanging and we are the schmucks that keep lining her pockets.

I hate this series and don't think I will continue to read it for the simple reason is seems Ms. Edwards is under the mistaken impression she has a redeemable male lead character in this series. Is there ANYONE who reads these books that thinks Stoneheart deserves anything but to rot in a cage somewhere or die a horrible death? I am getting the impression that Me. Edwards does. Let's be clear, (SPOILERS) so far he has: locked her in a room without lights (twice), starved her, beat her, raped her, electrocuted her, electrocuted her (maybe) father. Not to mention the countless threats and mental torture (that thing with the dove and making her watch herself get raped on video were disturbing). All along we are supposed to buy that Lily is a pulled herself up by the boot straps award winning Yale scholar. Yeah. And when confronted in this book by her best friends mother she doesn't attempt to escape but is scared 'Jeremy' will be angry and apologizes........but all because she is biding her time to dig up something juicy to ruin his life. Uh huh. All while she is waxing poetically about the differences in his personality and how sincere he seems and how other girls would jump at the chance to experience his lavish lifestyle and be 'kept' by him. Yep Ms. Edwards is see where you are going with this and I am declining to follow. Jeremy Stoneheart's character is a bipolar sadistic sociopath and I could really give a rip his motivation, he has no redeeming qualities and the simple fact that this supposedly intelligent Yale student is "finding" them is making this more and more difficult to read.

If I saw this series headed towards Lily growing a pair and really getting revenge I would be interested, but I won't read about her and her rapist falling in love. And as I've said above-I've enjoyed that storyline before. Fortunately (or unfortunately) you've written Jeremy too evil and I have no desire for him to have an HEA.

3.0 étoiles sur 5 Lack of a Complete Story is Terribly Frustrating 19 août 2014
Par Love to Read - Publié sur

It disturbs me a little to say that I have enjoyed the chapters (books 1 through 5) but that is not why I am leaving this review for the author. I am writing to say that in my opinion these novellas are not even that, they are just chapters, not complete books. I feel cheated because even after spending $15 to read books 1 through 5 on my Kindle I still have no clue as to Stonehart's true identity, why he is doing this to Lily, or how the story is going to end.

Each book ends leaving me feeling extremely dissatisfied and angry at the author. I REALLY hate the way the author stops abruptly with "THE END" when there is so much more to say - NO it is NOT the end. The end should include answers. For instance book 5 ends with Lilly being recognized at a gala she is attending with Stonehart but then the author immediately writes "THE END". What kind of an ending is that? Readers want to know what happens once Lilly is recognized. They want to know why Stonehart kidnapped her and how it all ends.

I am totally fed up with the cliff hanger style of writing - these are supposed to be books, not daily soap opera episodes on TV. In my opinion this is not a good writing style for literature, not that I am an expert by any means but I read a lot and like to get lost in a book; not encounter frustrating endings mid-stream as is this case with each one of these books.

I do not feel that the author is delivering a complete story. I may or may not buy the next installment - it depends on how long I have to wait. I read every night so tonight I will begin a new series by a different author, chances are very good that I will not come back to this series to find out what happens since the next installment is not yet available and will undoubtedly end with yet another cliff hanger once it is published.

I can however say with certainty that I will never again start reading any other series by this author, her habit of ending a book too soon is entirely too frustrating. I choose to read for relaxation not to get frustrated by the lack of a complete story, in my opinion the author should have held on to the story until she was able to tell it in completion through one, maybe two books at most, preferably just one long book. I do not mind paying more for a long book that tells the whole story.

Hopefully the author learns from the mistakes she has made in publishing such an incomplete story line as a series. My suggestion to the author would be "take your time and do it right in just one book - then publish."

1.0 étoiles sur 5 over promise....under deliver 11 août 2014

The auth is a tease. Worse than Twilight "love making" scenes. Do not get suckered into this series. The most bedroom interactions take place in the first book to get you hooked, then she spends the next 4 books teasing you with the promise of S&M and steamy scenes ... Only to pass over them like a prime time after school special. Sex is implied, but it is ALL story line. I'm actually pretty disappointed. There were PLENTY of opportunities to deliver this to the readers, but she went on and on in detail with the plot line.

Don't waste your time or your money.

I've been following this series, buying each chapter as it comes out. 1 through 3 were fantastic, 4 was a little boring. 5 is where it's jumped the shark, unfortunately. While it starts out with a bang, it quickly veers off straight into 50 Shades territory. The sadistic Dom turns all mooshy and sentimental, the heroine falls in love with him, he wows her with his amazing wealth. It's almost like it was written by a different author. I just don't care about the characters any more at this point, and will no longer be following the story.

I was disappointed. This had to be delayed due to the author not being happy with it and her wanting to make it better. Did she release the wrong version? Not nearly as good as the first 4.
