OK from what people are saying this appears to be sourced from the same photo-chemical restoration as per the U.S. Sony DVD release of a few years ago. Sadly this bluray looks far worse than that Sony DVD release, colour registration is a major problem with coloured fringes appearing all over the place. I understand the additional resolution of Blu Ray could show the inherent weaknesses of the (pre-digital) restoration (caused by variable shrinkage of the red, green and blue records) but what is strange is the fringieing in this Blu-Ray just jumps out at you whilst on the Sony DVD you are far less aware of the issue, even when upscaled and projected.
If you own the ITV Blu Ray of Colonel Blimp check out the Martin Scorsese extra regarding its digital restoration, see what could be done to AMOLAD and hope that ITV and the Bfi are on the case, until then I'd stick to the Sony DVD (it's region 1 though).

Release Date: 18 November 2014.
I have been waiting since the invention of the Blu-Ray for this film to be released in that format. I waited more than a decade, but it was worth it. This is a Phenomenal IMPROVEMENT over the previous *4* SD versions of the film; it easily supersedes my last one - the R1 SD version (043396259195) released January 2009 by Sony.
This region ABC blu-ray, with original English audio and French subtitles should be purchased by P&P fans ASAP! Or you can wait another decade - or two - for the next Blu-Ray release with (possibly) improved PQ. Finally let me urge Elephant Films to release the Greatest P&P film in Blu-Ray format: "I Know Where I'm Going."
