Présentation de l'éditeur

During a trip to England, Sophie Broadmoor falls head over heels for Wesley Hedrick, a wealthy widower who promises her the world. But Sophie soon learns that Wesley's promises are nothing but words and finds herself in a very compromising situation. Why does it have to be Paul Medford, the stringent young minister who works with her father, who shows up during her worst moment? Paul is full of promises, too, and it's clear that he has feelings for Sophie. But after all she's been through, can she trust him?

5.0 étoiles sur 5 An EXPECTED pleasure to read 16 septembre 2008

This book was wonderful.

As I was hopeful would be the case, this series is continued with the story of Sophie Broadmoor. The spunkiest of the cousins, she is constantly rebelling against her family and social norms. Since her mother's passing (a year earlier) and a father buried in grief, she has gotten worse and is able to get away with it.

This story follows the girls as they travel abroad to England. Here, Sophie falls in love with the older, sophisticated Wesley Hedrick. He travels back to America with them and things blossom.

That is really only a portion of the story. In this book we also continue catching tidbits of Fanny's tale (who is still waiting for Michael and thwarting advances created by her uncles scheming). We get to know Amanda a little better (prepare for her story in the next installment!) and really get to know Paul, the man who Sophie clashed with in the previous book.

There is much going on in this book-- alot of stories to follow. It is not an adventure but a saga all its own. Characters are WONDERFUL!!! Realistic, relatable and well developed. I truly enjoyed this book. I am eager to read the next book!!

5.0 étoiles sur 5 Great book 23 décembre 2008

Judith Miller is one of my favorite writers and she did not disappoint me with this book. The title, "Unexpected Love," reflected the ending of the book. The book does not end the way I expected; it was better. Now, I can't wait to read the final book in the series to see how all of the stories end.

If you are looking for a story of faith, love, forgiveness, and deception, this is the book for you. As with Ms. Miller's other books, it is easy to read and entertaining. It is Christian fiction, but it is a book that everyone can read.

Buy it. You will enjoy it.

I don't really like a book that doesn't have an ending. If you read book 2 you have to read book 3 to find out what happens.

I have a hard time giving novels poor reviews, but this is not good. The story could have been interesting. I picked up the second one because I got the first one for free and it didn't have an ending. As much as I hate series which don't start with a stand alone book, I bought the second because I also hate and unfinished story.

Ugh. First, how many times can an author have their characters rub their hands together, loop arms, and raise a brow. I know most authors have an overused phrase or two, but this was just extreme. And the books are SO long and boring. I would think that they would have more substance for the length they are.

Last, I absolutely despise when authors write unrealistic birth scenes. Sophie was perfectly fine and within five minutes was having the kind of contractions that make one scream in agony? Right. Because THAT is how labor works. For Pete's sake, have these women never delivered a child? (And I have extremely fast labors and deliveries. Even for a quick labor, this book was completely unrealistic.)

The characters are one demensional. The plot was redundant and boring. The writing was bad. I wouldn't advise this series.

The Broadmoor cousins are close in age and affinity. Where book #1 drops off, #2 picks right up. One suggestion would be to simply have all three books in one volume for one cost.
