Présentation de l'éditeur

Amelia Talbot has been issued a death sentence. At least it feels that way. The thought of marrying a man old enough to be her grandfather sends her into a panic. So much so that she sets off on a desperate search to find another man to marry her—quickly.

Conrad Croome, the Fifth Earl of Lofton, knows all too well that blackmail isn’t the way to form a marriage. How ironic that one Amelia Talbot uses a Croome family secret he’d thought long buried to force him to marry her.

Is Conrad doomed to a life of marriage based on an exposed secret, or could Amelia learn to love an unwanted earl?

Loved this book. It was romantic, funny, light-hearted, showing claws and/or talons, and all the other things that Ruth is known for.

I've never read a Regency Romance before, so I wasn't sure what to expect. I was afraid the wording might be too much like one of my old English classes, but boy, was I surprised! The Unwanted Earl was sweet with funny dialogue and situations. I liked the fact the main character, Conrad, wasn't your typical romantic hero, but rather a bit on the shy, awkward side. It was cute how he kept being put into situations where he was wildly uncomfortable (his dislike of birds and then going to a bird sanctuary was pretty funny). My husband had a similar unpleasant experience in a bird sanctuary, so I really laughed at that. I also enjoyed Conrad's mother's dialogue. Oh, Amelia, you're in for a lot with her as a mother-in-law! I very much enjoyed this series and look forward to reading more in the "Love Bird" series.

I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

This is the first of Ruth's books I have read and it won't be the last. The story had me laughing out loud at times and also tearing up at the sweetness. I think my favorite aspect is that both main characters have been made to feel unloved and "unwanted", but through each other they discover their true selves. This book is clean but very romantic, a light, easy read. I read it all in one sitting and was quite satisfied at the end.

This is the first romance that I've read that I have laughed so much throughout the entire book. A very sweet romance between Amelia and Conrad, Lord Lofton, that starts off with a visit to the dentist and blackmail. Conrad has been raised by an overbearing, domineering mother who has never spent time outdoors and is terrified of birds, animals and most things outdoors. Amelia overhears a private converstaion between Conrad and his mother concerning his "father". She quickly thinks up a scheme to get marry Conrad so she does not have to marry a very old man of her fathers choosing.

Conrad has decided to change his life from the cold, friendless Earl and starts to make ammends for past mistakes. Amelia puts her plan into action to become Lady Lofton. She is a lover of all things outdoors and pulls him outside with her and the fun starts.

I wish the storyline would have gone further into the business relationship that Conrad and Oliver started - that was a pivitol point in Conrad making a change and obtaining Oliver and Lucy's forgiveness - I would liked to have seen them work together adn Conrad regain wealth that his father gambled away.

Not something I normally read, I enjoyed the characters and laughed more than I can remember. The problem I found was not taking the story farther onto the lives after marriage. The ending was so abrupt.
