Not impressed. 26 août 2012

I got this book at the same time that I ordered 10,000 Nettle seeds (Amazon suggested it when I was ordering the seeds, I should have known better) thinking how useful it could be.

Unfortunately, it falls short of what they could have done in the useful area. The 101 uses for stinging nettle should have been titled "A list of 101 uses for Stinging Nettle". That would have been more appropriate. It doesn't go into very much information on how to use it for those 101 uses. It just list those uses.

This is taken directly from the book:
"74. Head Lice
There is a number of commercially-available shampoos containing nettle extracts for the treatment of head lice."

That's it, that's all they say about using Nettle for head lice.

That is one of the extreme examples as they do have some useful information but it seems to lack some basic instructions on how to use the Nettle plant for the various uses they list, even the ones they touch on briefly with "how to's" are short and limited.

Another example
"84. Beehive Protection
It is said that nettles grown around the entrance to beehives will protect the bees from predation from frogs."

Don't get me wrong, it has some information that gives a starting place, I'm just very disappointed that this book (should have been a booklet) cost me $10 for what I got out of it. It would have been worth $.50 or maybe $.99 to me but in now possible way is it worth $10.

I will be very very slow to ever accept an Amazon suggestion in the future and I advise you to do the same as well as do not buy this book.

After reading this book by either dipping in to seek what you wish to know - or from cover-to-cover - you will be intrigued and delighted!

It is, quite simply, the definitive guide to that much-maligned plant: the nettle.

This book has become invaluable to me in my work of complementary therapy. It has joined the many excellent books that I suggest to my clients, if they seek alternative remedies that work.

I have no doubt that whatever interests you have - you will love this book and its priceless information.

Outstanding book! These nasty weeds I used to roundup, I have found to be one of the most healing plants yet. I now use nettle for everything. Our horses shine like no other. We use it for healing as well as for nutrition. I find myself looking in my friends yards seeing if they have the pesky weed for me to harvest. Its great on chicken too!

I have a large patch of Stinging Nettles close by the house. I knew there were some uses like compost and tea but I did not know that Nettles could be used for so many different things. Some ideas in the book, are too much for me to try. Good book, recommended to all who think that Stinging Nettles are just a weed. They are so much more!

Stinging Nettles....who knew??? 30 septembre 2010

When several nettle plants popped up after I'd decimated hundreds in our overgrown yard, I've ended up being delighted that some are still here. I learned from this book that a tea made from leaves dried from pickings earlier in the season has antihistamine properties. My nettle tea (I mixed with green and orange pekoe and poured over ice) helped me easily survive "Cottonwood season" and I could breathe easily after having this brew without using any other medication. Nettles are also loaded with vitamins, especially C, and are enjoyably beneficial to use and to read about. I also learned from this book that I could use pure nettle tea (from plants you can pick at any point in the season) to pour over my hair at the very end of my shower. The result was glossy hair which my daughter had previously informed me was impossible for gray hair. I often receive compliments on my shiny, beautiful hair. This is a book with many surprises; nicely put together.
