5.0 étoiles sur 5 VCP-Cloud - another winner from VMware Press 17 mars 2014

Cloud. One of the more impressive, confusing, and powerful terms in the IT industry right now. VMware, the leader in virtualization (that’s my opinions, sorry!!) has another level of certification out there - VCP-Cloud.

This book goes into a great deal of detail in its 300+ pages that will get you well on your way to getting yourself certified. As is standard with all of the other books that VMware Press puts out, this book is exceptionally well organized. Starting off with a brief introduction to what the VCP-Cloud certification means including how to attain it, what tests you need depending on what you have already, and how far into the certification path you’d like to go, this gives you a great overview of that.

Right after that. Chapter 2 jumps you right into installing and configuring vCloud. From there, you are taken step by step through the entire process of getting vCloud up and going, setting user levels and security access, and how to use capabilities like ChargeBack, vCloud Networking, Organizations, and all the way though monitoring a vCloud implementation. Each chapter is full to the gills with screen capture, step-by-step processes, and more information than you can possibly shake a stick at.

One of the things about this book that I enjoy (if you can really enjoy taking a quiz) is that each chapter starts with a ‘Do I Know This Already?’ quiz testing your knowledge and it ends with a set of Review Questions. I look at it as if I can’t fully answer all of these questions comfortably, it’s time to re-read this chapter until I get it right.

Included with the book is a DVD with more materials to help you study for the upcoming exam. There is a ‘light’ version of the Pearson Cert Practice Test included and, with the option after purchasing the hard copy of the book to upgrade to the ‘Premium’ edition (including PDF and ePub versions of the book), you will get two additional exams with additional functionality right from Pearson.

So far, while I haven’t gotten my VCP5-DCV certification yet, I do know already that this book is going to be a great reference to be able to speak intelligently about another piece of software from VMware.

5.0 étoiles sur 5 Getting started with VCP-Cloud - Read the Official Cert Guide 25 novembre 2013

If you're thinking about getting started with the VMware VCP-Cloud certification and not sure where to begin, The Official Cert Guide for VCP-Cloud from VMware Press is a great place to start. Authors Tom Ralph and Nathan Raper have put together an indispensable resource that easily explains terms and concepts to get you ready for the VCP-Cloud certification.

At the beginning of each chapter is a “Do I Know This Already” Quiz that helps you assess whether you can skip the chapter and focus on the exam preparation tasks at the end of the chapter or whether you need to read the entire chapter. I suggest doing the quiz and reading the chapter - there is always a gem that you don’t want to miss. One of the things I appreciate are the many screenshots that are found throughout the book. They really help, as you try to do the tasks on your own or just following along in the text.

At the end of each chapter is a summary followed by a “Exam Preparation Tasks”, which are a review of the key topics and a set of questions based on the chapter. Answers to all the exam questions can be found at the end of the book along with a glossary of terms.

Awesome work guys!

This particular book is only for those who already have their VCP5-DCV certification. It does not cover any of the basics of ESXi and vSphere Server. It only covers content for the Infrastructure as a Service test.

With this book, I was able to go from having no experience with vCloud Director to passing the IaaS test in about 2 weeks. It seemed rather lacking in content, but it was enough to earn the VCP-Cloud certification.

5.0 étoiles sur 5 The authoritative text on VMware vCloud 23 novembre 2013
Par Chris Wahl - Publié sur Amazon.com
Format:Relié
The idea of tackling a cloud focused exam can be daunting. Fortunately, Tom Ralph and Nathan Raper (both holders of the VMware Certified Design Expert or VCDX certification) have the necessary technical chops and real world exposure to make it seem easy. The material is focused on providing concrete directives required to be successful with VMware vCloud Director (and related products). This is absolutely necessary for those new to the topic, but are also helpful to veterans of vCloud.

Throughout the text, the writers clue you in to the key topics by way of a "Key Topic" flag - this helps sharpen your focus on blueprint items to study further. As someone who has created a vCloud focused video training course, I found the Key Topic flags to be spot on and relevant. Additionally, the sprinkling of special Note boxes felt almost conversational, as if the writers were personally walking me through a vCloud design and configuration class. Both the Key Topic and Note sections give the text a more human, friendly touch - rather than being rigid and just packed with facts.

If you're looking to invest in a book for passing the VCP-Cloud, or just want to understand it from the perspective of two VMware experts, this book is a must have.

I recommend this book. The content is easy to understand and follow. For who hold VCP, this book is very valuable to the IaaS exam. Good luck.
