Descriptions du produit

Learn to paint Venice's exquisite facades, opulent palaces and elaborate churches with their magnificent domes with the help of professional artist Wendy Jelbert.

Whether your chosen subject is a crumbling shell or has been restored to its former splendour. Venetian buildings with their colourful reflections in the canals below are truly fascinating subjects to paint.

Venice is a complicated city to draw, so the book's six reusable pull-out tracings are excellent for helping beginners or those who struggle to get the image down. Then follow Wendy's expert advice as she guides you through five step-by-step photo-led projects.

Acrylics in Watercolor Technique 1 septembre 2011
Par D. Salvagin La Deetda Reads - Publié sur Amazon.com
Format: Broché Achat vérifié
This is a lovely book with step by step instruction in achieving each painting. However there is no mention in the description that this is a watercolor technique painted with acrylic paints. I prefer not to paint in this technique and I may have passed it up if I had known. I will give these paintings a try since they are truly beautiful.

UPDATE 2-11-2012: I put a photo of my finished Venice painting above in "customer images". I enjoyed painting from this book but it took some creative manipulation of paint to accomplish this on canvas. I recommend that a flat panel surface be used. As can be seen, I combined two of the books paintings into one painting. I intend to paint other scenes from this book.
Love the paintings in this book 24 août 2014

Love the paintings in this book. Being one that can't draw that well or quickly I love that they have the pull out tracings. However, the tracings that you use don't follow the photo in the book that well. So your tracing the pattern on but there are added details in her own paintings that aren't on the tracings. Was confusing at first being new at painting. Also realize that my painting shouldn't be a copy of any one else.
Venice in Acrylics Worth a Try 29 août 2014

The book is a good map to painting scenes of Venice. I'll execute one of the paintings when I get back from Venice in September. The light in the references the author presents don't match my memories but I'll see. Glad I got the book.

Venice in Acrylics 24 novembre 2011

Whilst the instructions are clear and precise, the drawings leave a lot to be desired. It seems as if the author made her sketches in somewhat of a hurry. This 'looseness' may be her particular style, but a good drawing is paramount to the finished painting. The perspective in some of the tracings is also odd. I completed one of the studies of a Venetian waterway and kept looking at it knowing there was something odd about it. I put it away for a few weeks and when I looked at it again it was clear that the drawing was out of perspective. Perspective and accuracy is very important in paintings of buildings. I'm afraid this book just seems to have lost the plot.
