... and one book to unite them all. 28 février 2013
Par John Lesko - Publié sur Amazon.com
Format: Format Kindle Achat vérifié
Visual Meetings, Visual Teams, and (now) Visual Leaders -- three books, each one stands on its own, yet this third in a series unites them all. I was lucky enough to be present in San Francisco when David, the author, was opening a box of books just received from the publisher. I looked on at this event (and the author's genuine excitement) before joining two members of the Grove Staff for lunch. Unfortunately, the Kindle edition falls a STAR short of a five-star rating. Why? Because there are a few formatting issues that an eBook cannot overcome. Reading the Kindle version of this book reminds me that there's no substitute for reading 2 printed pages facing each other.

It's about persuading people to act on new ideas 25 janvier 2013
Par Sandy Stojkovski - Publié sur Amazon.com

I have always been a big believer in systems thinking and visualization of data & concepts.

My a-ha moment in this book was realizing the disconnect between pre-prepared slides thoughtfully developed over hours or days and the amount of time audiences usually get to absorb it. No wonder nothing sticks! Instead, great ideas are far more likely to be acted upon if following a collaboratively developed picture of problems, solutions, and visions through the methods discussed in this book.

I have been recommending this book to everyone I know whose goals include persuading and gaining buy in to new ideas.

It's really leadership self-development, and intriguing... 11 janvier 2013

..wow. I just finished my copy. Even the first chapters are well worth it, for anyone with leadership responsibilities at any level. The timid will learn to send their leadership messages with more clarity. The daring will learn to engage their team on a quest to articulate strategic direction visually. And all the practical tips fly at a higher (leadership) altitude than his first two books. It's thought provoking and useful leadership self-development. This will be re-read again and referenced frequently on my own leadership journey. Visual Leaders: New Tools for Visioning, Management, and Organization Change

Great guide to visual approaches to leadership 9 février 2013

All of David Sibbet's books on visual meetings are directly applicable to my work. The visual techniques produce faster, more compelling results than PowerPoints or the old flip chart methods. These books have helped us revise the way we conduct problem solving and strategic planning meetings.

Visualizing the Complex World of Organizations 13 janvier 2013
Par Robert E. Horn - Publié sur Amazon.com
Format: Broché
How to handle the complexity and rapid change in modern companies and organizations? The most important answer is with visual tools that are adequate to the depth and breadth of our problems. The modern leader has to know how to address these challenges or be left behind by more nimble executives. How to achieve and manage this revolution in communication is covered in the fast-paced, example-packed book Visual Leadership. David Sibbet, the acknowledged pioneer of this field of visual management tools, has now published the third book in this series (the first two: Visual Meetings and Visual Teams). Moreover, this is the first book that executives and managers should read in the series, not only because it specifically addresses communication and decision-making issues from their perspective, but also brings sharply into view many innovative ways of managing the new media in the organizational context. Collaboration among groups, teams, and organizations is essential today. Flexible visual communication that goes way beyond PowerPoint presentation is the cutting edge. Sibbet shows you how to use quick back-of-the-envelope sketch-diagrams to speed immediate communication as well as 15-foot information murals to integrate the multi-layer context and multi-year implications of decisions -- so the whole company can understand. The essential tools he addressed are: visual metaphors and models for quick recognition; visual meetings that amplify collaboration; pre-designed graphic templates to guide many kinds of meetings (so you don't have to create them on the spot); the design and management of decision rooms that bring long-term and shorter-term decisions together into one context; roadmaps for managing deeply complex projects; and video for larger audiences. I found the methods from this book from the Master of the field easily-learned and rapidly-implemented.
