Présentation de l'éditeur

Are You Going To Hell? Many Christians secretly ask themselves this question. Do you? There is no shame in wondering about your salvation, whether you will spend an eternity with Jesus, or whether you are damned.

I wrote this book to encourage any Christian who reads it to follow the Gospels and to become more Christ-like in everything they do. Salvation is an often misunderstood gift from Jesus Christ. My heart bleeds for those millions of Christians who don't know or don't realize the Gospel truths about salvation. They go through life living in ignorance and sin, without repentance, and are unable to experience a true relationship with our Lord. They are going to Hell unless they are born again as a truly new person and live a life totally in line with the teachings of Jesus.

As Jesus said in Matthew 7:21-27 - Not every one that says unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that does the will of my Father which is in heaven. Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.

This book will give you the answers you need to calm your fears. It is a guidebook to living an authentic Christian life and to serve as an example for your family and friends.

Some readers will find this book controversial. Others will find it a "breath of fresh air" in a world of churches who stress the doctrines and traditions of men. I believe that we must look to the Gospels for our answers about salvation. Jesus told us exactly what He expects of us. That's good enough for me.

Much of this book consists of scripture from the Gospels followed by a discussion of how these words of Jesus may be applied to our lives. Some chapters may be difficult for you to read and accept. But I want to assure you that I am not a false teacher or merely trying to sow dissension. My goal throughout this book is to show you a way to get closer to Christ without the barriers and "traditions" that the Christian church of every denomination has put in our way. I have also filled the book with Christian art from the last 2,000 years, as well as other images that depict my ideas.

I don't know you, but I love you as a Christian brother or sister. We are all sinners struggling to deal with the complexities of modern life. I am a sinner, but I do have a personal relationship with Jesus. We walk together several times each day. I urge you to read my book with an open mind and to consider the evidence that I present. The only thing at stake is your immortal soul.

"Rev. Shannon is very earnest and zealous. Sounding like a prophet, he jumps into controversial topics with a unique personal perspective. His dedication humbles me." - Jesse Bradley, pastor of Sebastopol Community Church.

"Wow! I learned things about some Christian traditions that blew me away! I won't be celebrating those holidays any more." - Joshua Graham, author.

"I never realized what an authentic Christian is until I read this book. Now, at last, I have some hope of salvation and eternal life with our Lord Jesus." - Sage Ross.

"This is truly a great eBook! The one thing that stood out to me was the pictures and the various colors. They added a lot of taste and vibrence to the book" - Duress Patterson

4.0 étoiles sur 5 A Unique Perspective on Christian Living 25 août 2014
Par Adam Henley - Publié sur

I was provided a copy of this book by a close friend with the request that I review it. Scott's writing is both clear and instructive. You can easily read his book in a day, but will likely find yourself taking breaks to contemplate the perspectives of the author.

I appreciated having an instruction manual for "living an authentic Christian" life, but did not find that this book was aligned with my faith as a Catholic. The beginning was insightful and socially progressive, but the book ends with criticism of some core Christian traditions and observances which obviously did not appeal to me. That said, it was useful to read differing perspectives, and I believe Scott's was well-researched and argued. Keep an open mind & treat this book as a unique perspective, and I am sure you will find it somewhat insightful.

Inspiring read. Very well written guide to help people follow the right path. If you're looking for some great reminders, advice, or ideas on how you can follow the path laid out by the scriptures this book is for you.

Its not an easy thing to be a good Christian and this book breaks it down into easy to understand segments you can start applying to your life right away. It's not preachy which is something I really appreciate.

This book leaves a lasting impression and will be a life long reference for me and my family. I highly recommend!

3.0 étoiles sur 5 Worth reading, but barely 8 août 2014

First, I applaud the author in attempting to point out the need for Christianity to refind the pure, simple, apostolic Gospel, unfettered by tradition and denominational beliefs.
Having said that, I must point out some serious flaws.
The author states, in effect, that Christ's death was for the forgiveness of sins of the people who lived before his death, not after.
If this is what he truly means, than he has committed blasphemy.
Christ's death and resurrection as a substitute for all believers of faith of all times, before and after is a bedrock doctrine made absolutely clear by the Apostles, especially Paul.
The author emphasizes non judgementalism, then seems to judge quite a bit.
The author emphazizes a government free of religion (first amendment) then berates politicians for not adopting the Christian concept of charity in giving taxpayer money to the poor. Which is it ?
The author believes strongly in the Constitution, but seems to want more gun control, what happened to the second amendment ?
Henry VIII and his divorce of Catherine of Aragon is given as the reason for the Protestant reformation. Wrong. Long before Henry and his troubles, the likes of Luther and Zwingli had begun the Reformation on solid Biblical principles.
Finally, the author offers apologies for homosexual marriages. DEAD WRONG.
Homosexuality is a sin, no better, nor worse than any other sin, but it is a sin.
If we are going to accept it as non sinful behavior, then we must throw out the book of Galatians, and much of Paul's other books.

I found this to be a very well written book in which the author puts forth a guide to help us stick to the path that has been laid out in the Scriptures. I may not agree 100% with everything in the book but I thought that it was a great reminder of the things that we should be doing, but may tend to forget from time to time.

I liked how the author also backed up each of his arguments with quotes from the bible, as well as other historical references. A thought provoking book that i found to be a very interesting read. The section on how the different holidays came about was fascinating, in my opinion.

3.0 étoiles sur 5 Not For The Non-Christian 21 août 2014
Par Linda Parkinson-Hardman - Publié sur
Format:Format Kindle
Walking With Jesus: How You Can Be An Authentic Christian is not a book for the non-believer. It is unashamedly written for the committed Christian who is looking to deepen their personal relationship with Jesus. Scott Shannon uses passages from the bible and images of Christian art to explain to readers what it means to truly live a Christian life.

It is worth highlighting that some of his ideas, suggestions and beliefs are controversial in a multi-faith society; others will be challenging for those who have a more conservative approach to their religion. There are also a few historical and canonical errors that can be difficult to overlook. Personally, I think it is probably best read with an open mind and an acceptance that people have their own way of managing and living in the 21st Century.
